2019 Post Your Fixed Gear / Singlespeed Megathread

Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Oh, I forgot to post my other fixie. This is a 1975 Viscount that started out as a ten-speed. For a while, I had the Sturmey Archer 3-speed fixed gear hub. That was fun but not all that useful. Now it's a regular one-speed fixie. I'm thinking of converting it to SSFW to make commutes easier.

The handlebar end facing you is is a brass bell.

New carbon wheels put this bike right at 15 lb including pedals, cages and GPS mount.

Light Bicycle rims, Mack hubs and CX-Ray spokes were built up by ProWheelBuilder.com.

The rims are 25 mm outside, 17.9 mm inside, 35 mm deep with grooved Graphene brake track. I've yet to ride it as I'm off the bike due to injury.

I just finished building my ss out of the bin parts. As I am under 10 post, I was unable to post pics
Frame and fork was given away for free.
Tyres and tubes cost $44, I could use the spare tyres but I want a bit puncture protection
Ss conversion kit $25
Dead weight is 8.68kg. After installing rear rack, lights and bottle, it jumps to 11kg

Go @50voltphantom! Post some pics and results! Still haven't tried cross, looks fun. I like how it blends fitness and athleticism (skill). I've always been pretty athletic/not clumsy (haha) and think I could be quick over obstacles.
