What do you commute on when not peddeling
I admit I love to bicycle commute, but with 42 miles round trip, 2 teenagers, trail steward duties, and a large honeydo list among other things time soemtimes becomes an issue, not to mention I can only take so many 100 degree days in a row. So I finaly got off my rear and fixed my other "bike" to use on days when time, fatigue, or load make the bicycel difficult.
I rode mine it the 1st time this year.....it's a 1980 CT110.
I had a flat last year and it sat in teh garage waiting for me to get her back. She only has 1787 origional miles on it....I bought it 4 years ago for $1100 with 400 miles.
I will still peddle 2-3 times a week but this beats the truck all to heck.

I don't peddel, or peddle. 
But when I don't pedal my bike, I drive an '06 Mazda 3 sport. Silver. Stick shift. I feel like I should hate it, being the evil tool of government and corporate slavery and wallet violation that it is, but I don't. I like it even more that I only use it when I want to. It is a damned fun little car to drive.

Electrons. If I don't ride, I work from home. Doesn't happen often though.
Occasionally (maybe once every couple of months) I'll have an errand where I need to pick up something large or go 50 miles or so, and I'll drive one of our cars, whichever makes more sense. Usually the Taurus (sedan), sometimes the Windstar (minivan) sometimes the Fusion (sedan, manual transmission, clearly the favorite but it's my wife's car so it's harder for me to get).

'03 Suby WRX wagon. 5 Speed of course.
I won't lie, I love it. It eats Premium fuel and gets pretty crappy mileage, but its fast as sh^t and fun as hell to drive. Now that I commute and run errands by bike, It gets driven only a couple times a week...but it makes those drives that much more fun since I do it so infrequently.

On my 66RT commute I usually end up on this beast for some portion of the journey (helps mitigate that lovely 66 number down)
The GO train works nicely, and if I ride out to the east end of the city I can avoid all the crush and rush at the main Union station, which helps avoid any nitpickers that moan I'm getting on the train upto an hour before the rush hour bike curfew ends

i take public transportation, bus to be exact. while mass transit isn't great in san diego, it does exist. i much prefer my bike though

I live in a funny town. The bike paths actually go to useful places, while the "mass transit" is utterly useless. Everywhere I need to go is easily within walking or biking distance. If, for some reason I can't make it with my own two legs, I don't need to be there anyways...*

The Ford Ranger if I need to pickup something heavy. Otherwise it's one or the other of these if I'm running late and can't get there in time without infernal combustion.
