Carbon or Alloy fork?

I am building up a Kinesis Evo 2 and am wondering whether to go for the Kinesis Pure CX carbon fork or the alloy one?
I have heard about the splintering thing with carbon, but beside that, is there any noticable difference in ride feel between the two? In particluar I mean vibration absorption and lightness of the front of the bike

Thanks in advance!

carbon all the way .... just follow the precautions of using full carbon steerers .. i.e. how to cut it, what type of compression plugs to use carbon steerer friendly stems and proper torque on stem bolts. educate yourself so don't break stuff.
