The handlebar clamp diameter (26.0 or 25.4) is separate from the dimension of the part of the stem connecting to the steerer tube.

It will work fine as long as the stem has the proper dimension for fitting to the steerer tube.

Steerer tubes are typically 1 1/8” or 1” diameter.

Looks like your bike has a 1” (25.4 mm) steerer tube. You can also use stems for the common steerer size of 1 1/8” (28.8mm) if you get the proper shims.

No, you can’t install a 26mm handlebar into a 25.4mm stem. The fork on the Kilo TT has an uncommon 1” steerer tube, so finding a stem that will fit it can be difficult, but a stem with a 1-1/8” diameter fork steerer clamp can be used with shims.

Check out Nitto. They make short 26mm stems. Used to have a 80mm. It was the ui-86 IIRC.

so I ordered a stem that fits into a 1-1/8” steerer tube also the same length. Didn’t realize until after. I did find another stem that’s shorter and a shim as well so this should work.

btw could someone recommend good quality straps for my pedals. I ordered one already but after yesterday’s ride the threads were already falling apart.

Are you looking for single or double straps? MKS Fit-a Spirits, Toshi, and Cinelli make nice and durable laminated leather straps that I've tried. The All City ones I've tried are nice and durable as well if somewhat less blingy and it's worth noting they are slightly thicker so a bit tougher to thread through some pedals, I've had to shave the tips down with a knife and pull them through with pliers. I don't recommend the Soma straps however, they've gotten soft on me and I've broken them before, I'm not sure if they are laminated which may be the reason why?

I used a hacksaw and shortened the stock bars. Quick and easy.

Regarding tire and tube sizes. Currently the bike has the Kenda Koncept Lite 700x23c with 700x18/23c tubes. The other day I rode over some glass and punctured the tire. Tube had to replaced, the tire was ok. My friend had a spare tube and we got it installed but it was a size 28 but we still managed to get it in and no problems.

Now I'm looking to order new tubes and I found a bunch online. What size range should I be looking at?

Did end up ordering 700x25/32c but cancelled the order a moment ago thinking that it would be too big for the 700x23c tires.

The bikes rim and tire specs as follows:

Rims: 36H Aluminum Aero Section Track DoubleWall
Tires: Kenda 700x23c high pressure road (please maintain at least 100psi)

What tube sizes should I be looking for? I know 700 but as far as width goes : 20-25, 25-32, etc..

Ideally, you should get a tube in a size range that does not start larger than the tire width. So 18-23 or 18-25 or 23-25 should work fine. A tube can always expand to fit a larger tire, and I've successfully used an 18-23 tube in a 28mm tire. However, getting a tube designed to fit much wider tires can cause problems with the tube getting pinched and not fitting properly inside the tire. So, I think you were wise to not buy the 25-32 tubes. I carry a 23-25 tube as a spare with a 23mm width tire in front and a 25mm width tire in the rear.
