East to West Film

Hey all,

This past summer I went on a bicycle trip across country from New York to California. I created a blog for it to share my experiences with friends and family that I posted in another thread. Took lots of pictures and recorded video in which I made into a short film for everyone to watch. I hope the narrative shared with you all can be of help for your future or upcoming tours. You can watch the video on my blog here... East To West | Manual Pedal. I hope you all enjoy.

What an adventure!

I'll bet you have some interesting stories to tell about those 75 days on the road.

Really inspiring. Made me wish I was 25 instead of 52...and that I had 75 days to spare!

Looks like a good experience. That Vallejo ferry runs past my house on the San Pablo bay.

Very nice...it makes me wish I would have done something like that before we started our family. Maybe someday once the kids are older...

Thank you for sharing! Well done. I'm heading out on my own cross country tour next June. Not a day goes by that I'm not imagining being gone and riding. 72 days across Canada. Anyone contemplating? Just gotta make the time, and commit. If you don't do it now, when will you do it? By that time, you're well in to your retirement years, and physically unable. Please don't let this happen to you! Put the fun between your legs and GO! and by the way, I'm 50, married and have all the commitments you guys have too. No excuses.

Thanks again for the film. Exactly how I want to document my trip.

I've been reading a lot of blogs but your video and excellent photos add so much to the normal blog entry. Nice filming while riding too!

This is great inspiration for me - I hope to ride from Connecticut to the West coast in a few years, thanks for sharing

Thanks everyone for checking it out and all the kind words. I've always wanted to bike across country since I was in my teens. I've done road trips with friends but nothing this extensive. I was kind of nervous at first but that quickly past after meeting lot's of kind people. I mean it's good to be vigilant of course but I think people really just wanted to know where I was coming from and what I was doing, going and why. I always wanted to visit Central and South America and have been doing research since last year on that. Something I'd like to take on maybe next year sometime. However, I plan on doing some local tours to the Catskills before winter kicks in and document that as well. Stay safe and ride well - Dwayne

Sent this inspirational video on to my teenage nephew who's researching a possible trip from New Hampshire to California next summer. Hope he does it; I'd love to join him for a leg or two.

Man, I really enjoyed that. Thank you so much. I wanted to ride from from my home in Long Island to Orlando for a fraturnity convension in 1985, but I had no clue as to how to do that.

I'd like to start touring as I continue to get in better shape (just started cycling five months ago). My plan it to do a two day test run within the next few months and then do a cross Florida three day trip sometime in 2015. We'll see where it goes from there. Very inspirational!
