Rusted Cranks

I have a crank that has been on a bottom bracket spindle a long long time. It's now pretty rust. I want to leave it to soak in something before I start removing it to avoid stripping the cranks.

What's the best product to leave on the crank to help eat the rust away before I do this?

Thanks!

"Kano Kroil Oil" or 50/50 mix of acetone & Automatic Transmission Fluid. Best penetrants for this that I know of.

+1 Kroil is the best, PB Blaster second IMO.
