FS: 1972 Bianchi Specialissima?

SOLD

$1095 + actual shipping costs
I have this listed in other places for a higher price. I would always prefer to sell to a forum member and this price is only for forum members. Please do not cross post this or link to it from any other site (someone posted it on Facebook) as I usually am already listing on those sites at a higher price.

This is a fairly rare (at least in the US) 1972 Bianchi. I have heard this model referenced as the Specialissima in this time period but there is no model name on the frame. Paint and chrome are original, the decals are reproduction decals from Cyclomondo. It is constructed of Columbus SL tubing with Campagnolo dropouts. It has chrome head tube lugs and fork crown. This bike is one of the very last made by Bianchi that used their integrated head set and old style graphics. It has one small ding in the down tube (see pictures) and numerous scrapes, chips, scratches and marks (see pictures). Chrome has some pitting. Saddle is worn and scraped (see pictures). Tires, handlebar tape, cables and housings are new.

Completely cleaned, lubed and serviced and ready to go.

This Bianchi has a 55cm (ctt) seat tube, 55cm (ctc) top tube frame and has the following components:
  • Campagnolo 27.2 seat post
  • Campagnolo sidepull brakes and levers with reproduction hoods
  • Campagnolo/Bianchi integrated headset
  • Campagnolo Record rear derailleur, Patent 71
  • Campagnolo 141 bcd crankset and bottom bracket
  • Campagnolo Record front derailleur
  • Campagnolo shift levers
  • Campagnolo pedals
  • 3ttt Record stem
  • Cinelli handlebars
  • Campagnolo high flange hubs, Rigida 700c clincher rims
  • Cinelli saddle
All components are in very good condition. Bike weighs just under 21lbs as pictured.

Please ask questions before purchase. You are responsible for determining the appropriateness of this item for your purposes. Item is sold as is with no returns.

Payment by Paypal. Bicycle will be sent by Shipbikes with insurance and signature required. I pack bikes in a bicycle box. All frame tubes are protected with pipe insulation. Front wheel, handlebars, pedals, seat and rear derailleur will be removed and bubble wrapped. Reassembly will be required. Front dropouts and bottom bracket will be supported and chainrings and crankarms will be protected with bubble wrap. Wheel axles, seat tube and head tube will be capped with plastic protectors.

@BlueDevil63

So glad this is way too small.

GLWS, hope its purely because you want to although I can't imagine "wanting" to sell this.

My wallet is very happy that this bike is not several centimeters taller.

My heart does not share the sentiment. Such an iconic bike!

I generally don't want to sell any of them but I am trying to keep the herd under a dozen and am getting back into flipping some bikes to keep myself busy during lockdown. This one is a bit small for me and I already have this one:

Beautiful bike. I’m grateful it is too small. I like your keepers though, 👍

Fantastic. It's my size, so I'm grateful it's too ... uh ... costly for me. Yeah, that's the ticket.

@BlueDevil63 - Way too small, I think I have identified another Grail bike! I have wanted a Bianchi for a long time but I can't get past the confusion of the models over time. I know I want the high end or one step down as long as it has chrome on the lugs. DD's is another example. This year and this model meet my requirements except for the 60cm size.
GLWS.

I really like this bike on offer, enough prior use that one will not consider it too precious.
My size even, and the head angle is a bit slacker than the later and or bigger bikes.
totally wrong time, prop taxes are coming up... fed taxes are coming up...

I've been the happy owner of this bike, since January 2021. A very slight circle of paint fade on the down tube just above the shift levers, we believe, confirms from further research that this bike was very likely a "Specialissima" but marketed to the USA as the "Special". Velocals in Arlington, TX reproduced the red/chrome/white circular "SPECIAL" decal for me from several pictures found on-line. And like some have noted, the frame shows 50 years of mostly careful use. With pristine all-Campy Record rigging, she has cleaned up beautifully and rides as you'd expect... like a champion and a complement generator! I'll figure out how to post a few pictures in the next few days.
