Animals On Your Ride
I dont get to see many on my rides, but today I saw a rabbit that looked to be about 25lbs!!
Also rode past a baby turtle about the size of a silver dollar (turned around and placed him off the trail so he wouldnt get squished).
What have you all ran into/across.
Any pics?

Road biking: Dead snakes, racoons, rabbits, possums, and squirrels. Live coyotes, deer.
Mountainbiking is more interesting: Live coyotes, deer, rabbits, racoons, snakes, squirrels,a live snake with half a dead squirrel sticking out of its mouth, and a cow femur (not really a full animal, but quite interesting).

In the spring: deer, elk, moose, lots of different kinds of birds, squirrels everywhere.
In the summer: coyotes, deer, snakes, tarantulas, very small rabbits, desert grouse, hawks, once a weasel, and twice a bobcat.

Massive carnage on a flat route around Stukel Mtn.: about 20 deer in various stages of decomposition, a dead cow in a field, several hawks by the road, 2 cats and a dog, bunches of blackbirds, snakes of course...

Moose and roe deer most of the time, sometimes swans, cranes, white-tailed sea eagle, osprey or goshawk if i'm lucky. Saw a brown bear once and maybe a wolf though it was in the middle of the night so hard to say for sure.

Today saw a few deer and foxsquirrels, but frequently see wild hogs, rattlesnakes sunning on the trail, and an occassional bobcat, alligator, and coyote. Yesterday a very small (~3ft) alligator got up on all 4s as I wizzed by.

Correct. Trinity area. Usually see most of the wildlife in Starkey Park, but saw the alligator on the Suncoast Trail trying to get through the fence. Have you been there? Also, Flatwood is a nice loop, but too far away and a bit crowded with skaters, rec riders, etc.

Much the same ones as I mentioned on this thread:
https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=485682
"Where to begin?? Probably the most alarming was the cougar.
However, I've also seen ... bears (grizzly and black), wolves, coyotes, foxes, deer, elk, moose, cows, horses, llamas, possums, echidna, wallabies, kangaroos, koalas, wombats, sheep, goats, mountain sheep, mountain goats, squirrels, chipmunks, raccoons, prairie dogs, gophers, marmots, jack rabbits, other rabbit, cats, dogs, donkeys, miniature horses,
And chickens, including some sort of weird looking Australian chicken who tried to race me down a hill, and emus, hawks, eagles, ravens, crows, magpies, kookaburras, cockatoos, parrots, sparrows, robins, red-wing blackbirds, woodpeckers, some sort of little yellow bird that frequents the Manitoba prairies, blue jays, geese, ducks, a great blue heron, and a whole bunch more. (I'm not a bird watcher, so I don't know what they all are).
And a blue-tongued lizard, and snakes, and frogs of all sorts, and all sorts of lizard-like creatures in Australia.
And a whole bunch of different kinds of spiders and insects.
And I doubt I've covered the whole list!!
Here's one of the koalas Rowan and I saw on our tour in Australia last February."

I'll only name the unusuals that I have seen riding my bike near Gainesville, Florida:
Roseate spoonbill standing in a ditch along side US 441 just south of Paynes Prairie. (Very unusual around here.)
Numerous sitings of bald eagles picking at road kill on the pavement. Sometimes fighting with turkey vultures over the "prize". Bald eagles are pretty common around here, but seeing them that close is unusual.
A pair of bald eagles "doing the deed" in mid-flight. I stopped riding to watch this. I guess that I am a voyeur.
I've seen gray foxes a few times. It's not that common to see them on the ground. When I am riding I ain't looking up in the trees for them. Red foxes are pretty common.
A couple of bobcat sitings. Some of them as road kill. Usually seen near dawn or dusk.
Numerous coyote sitings. Lots of folks see coyotes at dusk/dawn and think that they are seeing panthers. Coyotes will "slink" like most people think that a cat would move.

I generally see your regular assorment NE US fauna. Most notable in my area are deer and wild turkeys.
But there's a farm on one of my routes that keeps a few Emus. You know, those big, hairy ostrich-sized birds. Those things make me nervous. Every time I go by I look to see if they are inside that fence. When I don't see them right away, I get a little spooked and I start thinking about those Jurassic Park movies. I mean, these things are like 6' tall with big sharp beaks and talons, and they don't look very friendly. I don't think I want one of them getting loose and chasing me!
Does HALT work on an Emu?

So far this year, just some wild turkeys.
Last fall I had a coyote lope across the road in front of me. Otherwise I've seen more turkeys, deer, squrills...squrrils....squrriles...squirrels (Always did have trouble spelling that word!), fox, rabbits, chipmunks, and lots of various birds.
