Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I also put a fresh chain on before the ride. 12-1/16", it was time to go. Shifting improvement - 84.9%

After working on a farm for several months, he proposed to the girl. She left with them, got to Solomon’s, married there and stayed.

If you have a bike with you, don’t ride across the bridge when traffic is heavy. The shoulder is filled with debris and the concrete barriers aren’t very high.
That’s a great story. We stayed at Spring Cove a time or two, back when we were sailing club boats. Nice marina. Once in the early 90s we took a cabin at the Navy rec area. We brought bikes, put our baby daughter on the back of mine, and rode around Calvert County for a weekend. Didn’t cross the bridge, though. I get nervous enough going under it.

Just mentioned the Navy rec area in another post. Fun place, as is driving around the NAS, with the F35s taxying around and all the big antennae at Cedar Point. Showed daughter’s Icelandic partner around there last summer. He was impressed.

"I'm a drinker with a sailing problem" is a label some wear all too proudly.
Classic story: Friend of mine had a crew member go into florid ethanol withdrawal 36 hrs into the 2018 Annapolis-Bermuda race. They had to open the Goslings a little early to keep him safe. I did the 2016 with the same guy and he was fine on the race, but I knew he was a drunk after 20 minutes at the bar.

I'm actually glad the Patriots got another win last night (not that I would have deeply minded them losing).

I achieved legend status on my local trail, probably because I use it mainly in the winter and others hibernate.

A group of us stopped at a convenience store and as we were preparing to leave, my wife shows me something and asked if someone had lost something. It was a jockey wheel. Immediately, everyone began scrutinizing their rear derailleurs but it wasn't ours so it was some other person that had a bad day.

But... it gave me an idea. I may start carrying a few small worn out parts in my pocket just to throw out at our rest stops to watch the excitement.

It will work. To continue my excessive series of sailing posts, a favorite regatta prank is to hide a clevis pin & ring or something in one of the competition’s sails. When they hoist it the next morning the hardware hits the deck and forces a rig inspection and much terror. Rig failures can kill people and sink boats.
