Kool Stops and Rim Wear

Just replaced my rims (open pro) after 2 years and about 8k miles. InterestinglyI discovered kool pads after I had a supply of older pads bought. So I used the older pads on the rear wheel and bought kool stops for the front. I do 80% of my braking using the front brakes. Guess what happens back rim wears out first. I changed out the front rim at the same time, but I think I could have got more out of it.

So don't know whether it is kool stop pads or more braking forces on rear rim

More breaking forces are probably applied to the front wheel. After all, that is the one that does the stopping.

I propose that the kool stops' arrow shaped end is effectively cleaning gunk off the rims before braking force is applied, reducing the amount of abrasives trapped between the pad & rim.

The rear rim is in the path of muck and grit thrown up by the front tyre. Pieces of grit stuck between the pads and rim will wear the rim out faster.
