I knew this thread was coming around again, so I got me an appropriate bike on the stand this month.

IF mrs non-fixie decides she likes drop bars, and IF mrs non-fixie wants a classic hand-built racing bike and IF she's willing to deal with a Campagnolo Nuovo Record transmission, THEN this MAY actually see the road later this year:

I posted this '78 Raleigh Super Course earlier, but it was "in process". It has turned out to be one of my favorite rides. From a $20 local CL find, using mostly parts bin and swap meet parts, here's an update.

Schwinn called these Chestnut & Champagne, in primary colors I'd say they're closest to brown & gold

Nice looking bike. I always love the the gold Peugeots. A friend showed up on a Pasadena ride with a gold PX10, and I just had to have one. I found a gold '78 PR10 on local CL, and grabbed it. Great riding bike, and the gold paint has held up well.

My PR10 on the left, PX10 on the right.

Different day, different angle, same bikes. These bikes are both from 1978, but notice the different hues of gold paint.

Does champagne, and rust qualify?

I’ll be putting some TLC into this frame, and fitting some components to it this month. I expect to have it finished, and in the road in April.

Here's the 1984 Dawes Ranger I just finished:

I just can't get over how nice the ride is on this thing. It has become my favorite bike, and that's sayin' something.

What's next? I'm building a champagne gold Motobecane Grand Touring, a befendered 650b conversion, and I'll have to hurry if I'm going to make it before the end of the month.

Either that, or I'll post it next year?

Or maybe I'll cheat and post it late?

Too many choices!

After months of no progress, I got back to my Super Course. I changed the handlebars, so I have to put all new cables on. I'm missing lots of small parts now, dammit. Well, I got the front brake hooked up. Next the rear brake and the derailleurs.

Oops! Looks like I already posted this back on page 3. Can't believe I would not have, but did not find the post in a search and only when reading over from the start did I find it.
