Clyde1820 , you forgot Velo-Orange's handlebars. I do love my Porteur, and they have several other riser-type bars; the Tourist is a nice one.

ETA: And it looks like they're coming out with a new one.
What's one better than lucky #7 ? Lucky #8 of course! They have 8cm of rise, 800mm of width, and 8 degrees of sweep.

The Local Girls Scout troop got to the tree before I did - with a bird house and decoration; obviously, I'm not riding any Double Black Diamond Trails!
I remember those, how does it ride compared to a MTB with both 26" wheels, cool Bullseye cranks!

To be honest, besides bikes I've test ridden when I was a mechanic, I've only ridden this one. I built it myself new in 1985 - when I worked in a shop on Long Island, NY - and made some changes along the way: built new wheels, Litage bonded aluminum fork, Kestrel bars, etc., and those Bullseye cranks which I love. As far as ride goes, I think the theory was better traction with the smaller wheel. It has a fairly high BB height as well which I don't mind, but I understand some did not like on these era Cannondales.

How do they ride? MBA in the 90s was a big supporter of AMP, do they live up to the hype? Also, 20-30 years later are they still solid (bushings, etc)?

At this point they're not solid enough for me to ride them. Mercedes B5: the vintage carbon is not confidence inspiring. the brakes drag a bit and I haven't sorted that out. just rode around the neighborhood. feels light for what it is. the B4: This is now loaded with purple and blue anodized parts. I have yet to fiddle with the strange front derailleur setup to get it going. The B3: i was going to sell it but nobody was interested at $350 and I have since acquired another AMP fork for it so it's disassembled and I think I'll keep it. I've only ever really ridden hardtail mountain bikes so I don't know if I'll be a good judge of how it handles compared to other FS bikes. I also crash a bit and I must admit I'm not eager to bang these up. Trails around me are technical and hilly. I also have an early AMP fork for my Klein Rascal project but that's a ways away. It needs work and I'm wondering how that will go.

The K2 Arcadia marketed as mountain/hybrid/commuter/comfort bike with an aluminum Easton frame. I feel the seat post shocks are OK but dont like the bar stem shock. Hard tails and full suspension shock systems were a big improvement for mountain biking.

I picked this up this up on Saturday and it was out riding on Sunday.. 1998 Cannondale F1000, Viper Red. Bought it from the original owner who seemed to take great care of it. Its been sitting in his basement the last few years as he upgraded to something from this century.
I have to replace the shifters, leaning towards triggers, but not sure yet. The Headshok seems to be in good condition - I didn't have any issues with it yesterday. The cranks were replaced from the original Codas but the rest seems to be all orignal Deore XT/LX mix and in good condition.

Nice looking Bike. The rear sprocket looks to be 7 speed? I loved my old 7 speed Gripshift set up that I unfortunately no longer have. I don't think you can go too far wrong with the XT/LX components on it either. Don't know a thing about the Headshok. Ride it as is for a while, then let us know what you think.

Its an 8 speed. I may have the shop replace that too, I'll have him take a look to see whether it could use it.

I read in here somewhere that 7 speed was the last of the good Gripshift combos. Hopefully your 8 is good too, but I dunno. Let us know what you think?

This is a 99 F100 that I modernized with 1x9, fat slicks, and SLX hydraulics. Recently added a riser bar and ergo grips, now I can trim the brake hoses..... some day.

A couple of weeks ago I stopped into a Goodwill near my folk's place while I was checking in on them, and this '89 Stumpjumper Comp was on the floor for $49 USD. It was missing saddle & pedals, but otherwise all original with minimal use (though some decal damage). First couple of pics are as-is (except the random saddle/pedals I had thrown on to give it a test-ride); the last pic is of the build I'm giving it--all I've really done so far is clean with new cables/housing, brooks c15 saddle, and add a Voodoo Scorcher bar. The rear rim was damaged so I built onto a new rim & threw on Schwalbe Rapid Rob tires. Oh, and I bumped the cassette from 12-30 up to 12-32. Pedals are TBD. If I could only find one of the Jim Blackburn MTB front racks that fit a 26 wheel/fork...but I don't think many were made.

I'm planning on building a commuting/light-duty bikepacking/forest road exploring/all-around adventure rig for laid-back, fun riding. Also, the spec sheets from '89 that I've seen say the Stumpjumper Comp was double-butted, but this & at least 1 other person's I've found online have triple-butted decals. I wonder if there were different builds for different markets?
