Road Cycling Anime (Cartoons)
At the huge risk of letting every one know what a huge nerd I sometimes can be. I just wanted to share two great anime's that are all about cycling.
The first one is called Yowamushi Pedal.
Synopsis:
Sakamichi Onoda is a cheerful otaku looking to join his new school's anime club, eager to finally make some friends. Unfortunately, the club has been disbanded and he takes it upon himself to revive it by finding students who are willing to join. Without much luck, Onoda decides to make a round trip to Akihabara on his old, bulky city bicycle, a weekly 90-kilometer ride he has been completing since fourth grade.
This is when he meets fellow first year student, Shunsuke Imaizumi, a determined cyclist who is using the school's steep incline for practice. Surprised by Onoda's ability to climb the hill with his specific type of bicycle, Imaizumi challenges him to a race, with the proposition of joining the anime club should Onoda win. And thus begins the young boy's first foray into the world of high school bicycle racing! -(Copied from Myanime.net)
If cartoons aren't quite your thing don't worry it's been made into a live action, though I'm unsure when the English version will come out.
The 2nd and newest one is called "Long Riders"
Synopsis:
Ami Kurata is a first year college student with no special qualities. One day she happens to notice someone riding a folding bike, immediately falls in love with it, and uses all her savings to buy one. She eventually gets introduced to the world of long-distance bicycling and road racer bikes, and she forms a cycling team called Fortuna with four other female college students from the same school. Their goal is to ride in a "brevet" or long-distance event called "Fresh." -(copied from animenews network)
Both shows demonstrate the joys and fun of Road Cycling. So if you have kids, I think both shows are pretty good for introducing them to the sport. Or just something fun and light hearted to watch during the winter.

It has almost tempted me in the past looking for something new to watch. Maybe I will check it out now. By the way, it is called Yowamushi Pedal where I get my anime fix(Crunchyroll).

Good catch! I totally misspelled that. If you find the Anime is too long. They have two movies which pretty much sum up the first season.

Interesting. Found the video for "Nasu: Summer in Andalusia" here: Watch Videos Online | Nasu: Summer in Andalusia | Veoh.com
But I came here to post as a pedant, because right at the beginning the text on the screen says this:
The centrepiece of this movie is the "Vuelta a España" which literally translates to "Return to Spain."
That's wrong. Vuelta in this context means taking a "turn," "lap," "spin" or "revolution." Literally, but colloquially, "a spin around Spain."
More formally: "The Tour of Spain."

Caught 4 episodes of Long Riders on Anime Network. I don't like to use free site that is possible illegal and I like to pay for it, so the person who create this anime/manga can get some money from it. Just showing support.
Anyway, it got me laughing on Ami Kurata (main character). One of my favorite part on 2nd episode:
Ami was struggling on climb and her ride mate telling her that she "will be over in no time." But it turned out a long climb.
Ami arrived where Hinako and Yayoi were waiting. She parked her folding bike and took helmet off and then brisk walk up to Hinako.
Ami: Hinako, that was terrible! This hill isn't "over in no time"! You lied!
Hinako: Oh, come on. This is nothing comparing to a mountain pass. That's not a fair comparison. But you made it. Way to go.
lol. This is good series for anyone who just started riding bike. I went through same thing as she when I re-started riding bike after 30-odd years habitual.

Isn't it weird when you can't find your own thread? lol
If you guys enjoyed Yowamushi Pedal. They have a brand new movie out called "Yowamushi Pedal: Spare Bike" It's kind of a prequel and I'm wondering if it's going to lead into another movie or season.

the Nasu episodes are so good!

i read a bit of the comic. seemed very cliched.
https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=46533 (comic)
i read some of this as well. translations stopped because it got too nerdy/technical for the translator

Yowamushi Pedal is easily one of my favorite animes, and watching it a few years ago is what got us both into road cycling. I watched the movies that came out recently, and the 3rd season starts in January too; which is great news because I almost gave in and read the manga.

Also, kind of untreated but I'm gettng a Sohoku jersey once I find a good source for it. Most I've seen online look like cloth and not even jersey material. I'm not expecting Castelli quality, but damn!
