Raleigh Grand Sports en Francais
I spied some gold flecks in a non drive side seller photos this morning and decided to take a gamble. Simplex Super LJ groupset with early Dura Ace hub wheels and a Nitto NJS track stem of all things. Thought you guys might appreciate it.
I have a PX-10 I think may be the eventual recipient of the LJ bits or I may just cuddle them.

That's one angry looking stem. OEM? Or something after-market? Would someone go with that much drop to just pull it out, looks fairly close to a standard min insertion mark?

The previous owner got it from their friend and said it was uncomfortable to ride. My ratty plain lug PX-10 frame may not be pretty enough for all this bling now.

Funny how the shifter band partly covers that stop. Shouldn't it be further up, so the band is actually stopped by the stop?

^^^ Yes, 531DB, but oddly, stamped dropouts. Alas, that one in St. Catharines has the delrin Simplex RD, and lacks the awesome star-pattern Stronglight (93?) crank. Brooks appears to be in good shape, as do the white "Carlton" hoods that usually get dirty just by looking at them.

I'd take it for ~$250, $300 CAD tops if frame is in excellent condition. But need to sell some first so will see how much longer it will last

The stamped dropouts were the typically standard ones with Zeus forged/stamped with derailleur ear appearing on frames above 58 cm. Narhay's is the first smaller frame with integral hanger that I have ever seen. Check the pictures in this thread of larger frames: https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-v...nd-sports.html
Some Grand Sports were 531 main tubes but some were full including forks and stays. This was the middle of the bike boom and they got whatever they needed to go out the door, I guess. This particular bike has been listed for at least two years so I figure you are somewhat safe to wait. WGB says the owner is quite firm on pricing so be of good cheer.
