I've recently began cycling to get fitter but am enjoying it very thoroughly and want to upgrade. I ride PRIMARILY on the roads/paths so off-roading isnt of huge improtance. But if I can get a bike that could facilitate that if the occasion came then great!

I'm looking for a fixed gear (the ones where you HAVE to pedal and if you pedal backwards you break/go backwards)

Problem is I'm also looking for a bike that as well as being fixed gear, is BMX-like so I can do tricks, etc but also high/comfortable enough to cruise sitting down without any problems..


These are the sort of bikes I'm interested in height and shape wise, just an FYI:





But I'm not sure if you can get bikes like this fixed gear?

Oh and I'm also assuming I'd want 24" or 26". 20" would be too umcomfrotable for cruising.

Yeah, more impractical than anything.

Good luck. Just google "fixed gear freestyle" and you'll find plenty of stuff, as well as videos that will show you the stuff you will be doing.

I wish I was coordinated to freestyle anything, but nope. I'm just awkward enough to ride.

Your best bet is a fixed gear freestyle bike, which as a group here we do not know too much about. But the Trick Track forum has many good dudes that know their stuff. Check out there.

I've looked at freestyle fixed gear but I'm not keen on the high seat / level seat/handlebars..



Something this shape seems more my style, but I dont know if things like these come in fixed gear.

And obiously not the McDonalds colours.

Then just slam the seat? You're kinda looking for something doesn't exist.

I think you'd have a hell of a time pedaling a bike like the ones you posted at anything above walking speeds, with the seat that low. Standing up and riding fixed gear for any significant length kind of sucks, imo.

I don't know, man. You could always get one of the bikes you listed above, and get a rear wheel with a fixed gear hub, and then put a cog and lockring on it. As far as I know though, you're looking for something that doesn't exist, as mentioned above.

The saddles are too low on those BMX bikes for FG riding.

At this point you are asking for two different things.

A bike that can be used for traveling any distance, but can still be used for some tricks will not look anything like the style you are going for.

You have a few options: get a bike that is the style you want but it wont be practical for the ride you want. Get a bike for the ride you want, but it wont be that style, or get both.

I mentioned that potentially being an issue in an earlier post. I've never done it, so I couldn't say definitively, but even if it were possible, it would suck horribly to ride fixed with a saddle that low.

OK guys I think I'm just gonna have to forget about the BMX style, but a bike in this vide at 1:32 shows a good shape that I would be happy with but is also fixed gear. Any idea what type of bike it is?

That looks very similar to the bike GMJ posted. Seriously, check tricktrack. They'll help you. I don't have the credentials to recommend FGFS bikes.

Are all 3 of those bikes fixed? And definately not compete! I'm just biking 2-4 hours everyday for fitness. Well in the beginning it was for fitness, but the more I do it, it's becoming more and more for enjoyment.

The thrasher and sledgehammer look like bikes I could see myself with, I'm just not sure whether they are fixed! I think the Thrasher is...

I'm fairly certain they're all intended for FGFS, but you can ride them fixed or with a freewheel.

I should note that it sounds like you want a complete bike, versus one in which you would buy all the components and build it up yourself.
(not compete, lol)

Oh, ha, my mistake!

That bicycle you posted is perfect. It looks exactly how I want it to and does exactly what i want. Only downfall is, it seems a tad pricey for someone who is currently unemployed!

Do you have any other ideas or suggestions?

With those Volumes, since you want fixed, you'll want to look at the Thrasher. Whats your budget? You could always go for a PK Ripper too. That one seems to be popular.
