What type of pedals are you using on your hybrid? I am leaning towards the Shimano A530, combination platform and SPD.

I have regular platforms on mine but I think those would be a good choice if you want to have a clipless option.

i'd like to get clipless too, with the platform on the other side. also interesting is the new ergo pedal: https://www.ergon-bike.com/us/en/prod...bffu6tu8q6uli4

Shimano SPD M520 pedals on both road and hybrid with Winwood Decksters for both bikes when I don't feel like clipping in. I know of some people that have the 530 pedals and the only problem they have with it is the platform is always on the bottom and they have to flip it over to use it. Also, with the 530 pedals, you only get one side to clip into to. With the 520's, you can clip in on either side and with the Decksters, you can clip them in whenever you want to ride without clipping in and clip them out when you are done. Plus I can use one pair of Decksters for both bikes.

IMHO they are a great compromise and reasonably priced.

SpeedPlay Light Action -
I'm 65 - knees are ok, but I've had a couple of ankle surgeries - and I'm thinking that there is no substitute for float.

born again cyclist
i've got Forte Campus dual-sided SPD/platform pedals on my hybrid. i also had a pair of the dual-sided shimano A-530's, but the forte pedals were half the price and have now lasted twice as long.
i've got regular old Shimano SPDs on my road bike.

I recently put the M-324's on my Jake, and I really like them. They're also spd/platform.
On my hybrid, I have Diamondback platform pedals. They're cheap, heavy, and really 'sticky'. I don't care about the weight, so I they work well for me.

I have A530s on my hybrid but would not buy them again. I never used the platform side and in hindsight would have preferred a double-sided pedal. The new bike has Speedplay Zeros, which are probably the best for being on the bike but the worst for walking around in off the bike.

I use the Shimano A530s....like them a lot, but haven't used any others so no basis for comparison. i like that the tension can be adjusted.
