Its been a while since I posted any of my builds. This is my personal gravel bike. 650b wheels with clearance for 50mm tires. I carried over some of the forward geometry from my MTB bikes by pushing the front center out further and running a 50mm stem to make it a more confidence inspiring off road descender. Those Gravel King SK's are gone now and replaced with Terrene Elwoods, a far superior tire.

Thought I'd post a couple of pics of my latest creation, a fillet brazed frame with Di2. My first ride with mtb Di2 derailleurs and it works great I was very surprised how easy it was to setup and how well it works. Hardest part so far is getting used to which switch moves way. I was also very surprised that it works so well with a 10-42 Sram sd cassette and Sram mtb cranks. I had the Sram parts and figured I'd give them a try and if it didn't work buy Shimano later, no need though. It will fit up to 2.1 inch tires, limited by the fork the rear will go larger.
This is my first built up fillet frame and so far so good.

Very nice! It looks like it's ready for most anything. It looks quite a bit like my last one, though I'm still doing rim brakes and cabled derailleur:

Looks really nice. The one detail I noticed is the last photo showing the lowest black (at least it looks to be black on my monitor) band edge bisects the lower bottle boss. Not what I would ask my painter to do. I assume you had a "talk" with yourself first. Andy

I put that photo up Andy because it shows the true color of that band to be black/blue pearl. Basically, it looks almost black but when the sun hits it the pearl lights up. As far as bisecting the boss goes...that was just plain bad planning

The bike looks great. Is the silver/white also pearl paint? Whatever it is it looks great. Do you even notice the band bisects the boss once a cage is on?

The white is House of Kolor "SNO WHITE PEARL". To apply the color you first lay down a white base coat layer and then shoot a translucent pearl layer over the top of that, followed by clear of course. You need to be really careful after shooting the pearl to not bump or smudge the pearl layer or the white will show through. Not friendly for shooting in your backyard like I did, although I got lucky and it turned out pretty well. The pearl in the black/blue was just mixed in with the base paint so no need for two layers.

Regarding the boss again, the bisect doesn't show with the cage on but even if it did I don't really care. It was only an issue when painting (masking that boss was a bit of a pain). I shot the white/pearl layers the day before and I was expecting to have a fairly easy second day of adding the lettering and stripes, followed by the clear. Well, the detail work took me way longer than I was expecting because of stuff like masking those stripes and have them come out properly symmetrical around the tube. In the end I took some paper, wrapped it around the frame tube, then slid that up and down the tube to use as a masking guide. It worked out nicely and I was able to get the details and clear added within the 24 hour critical recoat time period for the paint.

I chopped up an old tandem to make my whip.

I started off with a GT Quatrefoil. Nice cro-mo frame but it was huuuuuge.. and the daft 700d wheels didn't help. Plus I wanted full suspension for my child-back e-tandem, so... Stripped...

I chopped the rear stays off, and then chopped a foot out of the centre square. This took some care to get right, due to the geometry.
Then I made a mount for GT STS rear suspension, welded it all up, painted it and fitted it up to my chosen specification.

The bike is, for want of a better word, awesome. Every day.

that's a really interesting project. It has provisions for a non-pedaling rider?

26" MTB for a local shredder

Here's the latest one to leave the shop. The rider is 11yo so, the design criteria was light weight and low. The dad rides a lot and knows the benefits of a high end bike so he wanted something nice for the kid. I built it around a 100mm Rock Shox SID that I lowered to 62mm. The groupset is 985 XTR and we swapped out the XTR crankset for the Trailcraft 155mm cranks you see here. The picture above shows it before trimming the hoses and without pedals and the correct saddle. Ready to ride it weighs just a tad under 22lbs with 2x drivetrain. The Paragon HT and T47 BB shells were both relieved to save additional weight. It's definitely the nicest bike in the school bike cage!

Finished at last

My second frame is finished at last. It took just 15 years after completing my first.

Sorry for the late reply - yes, being electric, my daughter doesn't need to pedal. So i chopped the old crank into an armless final/relay drive...

Early-mid 90s GT font choices: fantastic. Wish I still had my '93 Karakoram.

Reynolds 631 road bike

555mm square, horizontal TT, 410mm CS, 70mm BB drop, Reynolds 631 main triangle, 525 rear triangle, TIG welded. Components including 10 speed Campag Veloce are mostly upcycled from a busted Bianchi circa 2005 except where they didn't fit. My third frame but it turned out pretty well and rides great! The paint is "Battersea" from spray.bike which is greener than it looks in the picture (and doesn't really match the bar tape).

Nice looking machine! What tubing did you use for the crank boom? I did a more standard short wheelbase recumbent and I used 1.75x0.035" tubing. I found it to be just a bit more flexy than I'd like.

Thanks! It's 1-3/4 x 0.049 cromo. With a gusset made from a bit of leftover aero tube. Seems quite stiff to me.

My newest finished frame. A great paint job by Todd, as usual. He's a car guy and I wanted a Gulf Ford GT look in my usual pattern. I think he hit the colors really nice.

This is my station wagon. Commuting and some longer rides where fenders are nice but touring sleds are not needed. It replaces #430 built 15 years ago. that bike had a shimmy with any rear load, made worse by sitting up. This new bike has a one step OS TT, 1 1/8" steerer (vs 1") and revised geometry. Soon we'll see if my revisions are the right ones. This bike will run 32mm tires, fenders, self made rack, triple crank (yes I can shift a front der just fine, thank you), a Campy Ergo/Shimano drivetrain translated with a Shiftmate.

I'll post after build photos soon but here's some less then steady handed shots in the wind of today. You'd think I would have a better camera hand... image stabilization can only do so much and auto focus sometimes doesn't see what you prime it's pump on For now enjoy these. Andy
