There is probably nothing special about the DT grease but getting the correct viscosity is the most important part. I'm the type of person who hates buying overpriced special bike lubes that are no different than what I can get for a tenth the price at the auto parts store and willing to spend a couple hours of net searching to find a proper substitute to save a few bucks. Thank you for concern, really, but I happened to live outside US. In here, it’s really like $25 (I tried to search for lower price for a few hours.)

do those works with DT star ratchet too? I needed grease that works with DT star ratchet.

I have 3 DT hubs and use Super Lube synthetic grease on them. Seems to work fine.

A few years ago, I got some standard grease, mixed in some 3 in 1 oil drop by drop till the viscosity looked good (ie a wee bit runnier than standard grease) and been using in my 240 hubs ever since. Never missed engaging even in sub freezing temps and reasonably quiet too.

+1 on this. I used to mix motor oil with marine grease to get the right viscosity for my Shimano cassette hubs and never had an issue. Maybe not the same viscosity as what the DT needs but you could experiment with your own mixture without harming anything.

I've actually done the grease/oil mixing thing too. Works fine, sort of a roll your own viscosity!
