TA Botton Bracket thread Identifcation

When I bought my frame in 1981, we had to retap the NDS BB side to Italian threading due to messed up threads. My helper/salesman installed a Sugino Italian threaded cup in the NDS and a Sugine DS English threaded fixed cup. I still have them, and they're marked.

Around 1983, I switched to a Cyclotouriste crank. I bought 2 pairs of TA BB cups, one Italian, one English. I installed the Italian adjustable cup and what I thought was the English fixed cup in my BB back then, and I just reinstalled them a couple of months ago.

I listed and sold the English adjustable cup on ebay and listed the Italian fixed cup. A credible assertion has been made that the cup I think is Italian is not described correctly, which makes me question my description of the English cup. A return has been requested, and if I described the cup incorrectly, I owe the buyer a refund, even though that's not the reason for the return request.

Does anyone know and care to share how to identify the threading for TA BB cups other than by measuring?

I measured the external diameter of my 'Italian' cup, and it's about 34.94 mm, if my caliper is accurate, awfully close to 1.375", and it seems pretty far from the 36 mm Italian spec.

As you can imagine, I don't want to do a needless refund, and I don't want to screw buyers; hence this thread. Thanks in advance..

English threaded TA cups had two rings around the spindle hole. French had one ring. Italian had no rings.

Here's the full source.

Thanks. That just confirms my mistake.

Overnight I remembered I had an Italian adjustable cup in a box. It's clearly wider than the cup I have. Refund offered, Italian cup listing cancelled.

For the life of me, I can't figure out how I got something that's French threaded. At my age, I do not like reminders that memory is fallible....
