Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Sorry for ambulance chasing...such that I recall seeing him post a lot, then not. I wasn't in touch with or in the know enough about him as to reasonings. I wouldn't think that anyone who has been here a while hasn't come across a post by him. What happened, for those that don't know? I hope not moto related.

He was killed by an SUV driver while riding his bicycle.

So true.
I just found out. Like some others, I haven't been around in awhile but Pcad always made me smile. I live in the town where his beloved Mets Spring Train and I liked to needle him over how bad they looked.
Posting in this thread is not why I wanted to come back to BF. Sad and I really don't have any other words.
Vaya con Dios.

I’m friends on FB with former user umd who used to exchange posts and banter with Pcad a few years back. He is shocked and saddened at this news and sends his condolences to the many friends Pcad has here on BikeForums.

Like many of us here who never actually met Pcad he, and the rest of us, felt as if we knew him and the loss is personal.

I've been gone from here for several years, and like many others, butted heads with Peter fairly frequently. But this really saddens me. Rest in power Pete.

I'm very sad to read this news this morning. He was a total character but his passion for bikes made itself present to us all. Without Pcad the Addiction threads over the years would have never started.

Such sad news to hear today. I remember back in the day coming onto BF to see what sort of fuss Pcad was causing that day. I had just checked his profile about a month ago to see if he had cracked 100k posts yet; sad to see that day won't be coming. Rest in peace, buddy.

That bench took a lot of abuse, as did Pcad, who frankly deserved, and demanded it (all for the funny). His dear family... So sad and unfair. There was no one like him. Literally one of a kind. I never questioned anything he had to say about biking, the shared addiction, the self mockery at the delusional pretending we're anything more than Fred hacks. The one thing none of us laughed at was how these two wheeled machines make us feel, and how for many of us they have been life saving/extending because of the health benefits. Unfortunately, that can also cost us dearly by way of accidental death. Pray for that driver too, if he or she never had a bad thought about cyclists, and this was just one of those tragic accidents. I can't imagine how it would feel to take the life of an innocent in that way. RI<effing>P, Pcad. Legend.

I learned of this horrible news by way of Andrew (trombonist) posting on FB. Thank you, buddy.
