Toe Clip Size/Length?
I'm returning two of my vintage bikes to their original state to include toe clip pedals. I can't seem to find information on what size clips I should seek for a size 11 (US) / 44 Euro cleated shoes. Did Campy and/or MKS make an XL or just three sizes (L,M,S). I've seen big auction site listings that say large clips for size 10 shoes. At the same time I don't see any XL clips. I seem to remember adding some fender washers to get proper spacing back in the day. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks. I guess my real question should be do I need XL clips for size 11 shoes - which I don't consider huge. Not going to kill me to buy a pair and find out - although was trying to do a very nice restoration with Campagnolo components, and as close to NOS as I can find. Nobody gives that stuff away!

I wear US 10, Euro 43 and can fit my old Vittoria's very snugly into medium Campagnolo clips attached to Superleggeri pedals. I'm guessing large would be ok for you. Of course, as they say, YMMV.

I wear 10.5 US size shoe, and prefer XL toe clips, though my toes are longer than normal. I used to use L, but found that going deeper in the toe clip alleviated some pain/cramping on the outside of my foot. You need to determine how long you need to get the ball of your foot over the spindle. For your size foot I would probably start with L. Somewhere there are measurements showing the length of various sizes.

Boy, talk about a timely topic! I've been looking at VO Deep Half Clips, wondering how (well) they work -- at $14, they seem affordable -- is the combination difficult or problematic to enter/exit? I'd be wearing Chuck Taylor All-Star high-tops (Converse).

I'd go with XL, at least using the the old school steel Cristophe sizing scale. I'm a 10 1/2 EE and XL Christophes are the only C&V toe clip I can tolerate. A lot of the ugly black plastic modern ones seem to run large, though.

I wear size 12.5 shoes, I use Large size toe clips. With the XL size my foot seems to be too far forward.

Easy in/easy out, yet my foot has never slipped out even when these old legs are "mashing"!

The MKS run a size smaller. If you want a XL, you will need a XXL. The Campy cages pretty much run true to form if you are using cleats. I wear a 9 1/2 shoe and I use medium Campy cages and large MKS.

No matter which size you end up with, you can fine tune the clip placement by putting washers between the clip and the forward pedal cage face. This allows you to incrementally change the clip depth and foot insertion until you have it just right for comfort.

Unless you have Campagnolo toe clips, in which case the integral shoe guide sits behind the pedal cage and will prevent you from extending the effective length of the toe clip.

another data point: I wear size 46 bike shoes (primarily vintage style) and prefer XL clips.
