Passing the torch........
Welcome the newest initiate into the world of vintage steel bicycles. This is the 13 year old that bought my 1986 Prelude yesterday on a ride with his Dad last night. This was one of my favorite riding bikes but was a size too small for me so in a last second decision I offered it to them when the Bridgestone I was selling was too small for him. His Dad sent me pics from their ride and said his son absolutely loves the way it rides. I took a loss on it but I was tickled to see it will be enjoyed as much as I enjoyed it, this made my whole month so in reality I gained far more than the fiscal loss. THIS is what the hobby is really about for me, breathing life into old bikes and passing on the passion to the next generation. (Photos used with parental permission.)

When my son was tall enough I got him a 24” wheeled Fuji ace. When he outgrew that set him on a Masi with a flat bar set up.
he is now on a Celmins ( small Santa Barbara builder )
I am quite pleased he goes for a 40-60 min ride around the neighborhood most days.
have to get after him to clean it though, incremental victories.

I am the Dad! I am so pleased to get him into riding. I moved away from steel many years ago and want to move back myself. Having a son interested in riding as a form of improving his health is a great motivation. Thanks Murray!

MM, great job and texasclarks wonderful to see you passing on the riding habits (and soon the bike mechanics / maintenance habits). Great bike to start with, probably will last about 2-3 years before he likely grows out of it. At that point, pay it forward again! As he matures, the young fellow will have plenty of leg power.
As for Dad, heh, you've come to the right place to become addicted, er, immersed in classic steel. Just be sure you have enough garage or storage space.
