Show Us Your Bikes Starting With I

Here's your chance to show us your bikes alphabetically!

It goes like this: every fortnight I'll start a new thread with a new letter in alphabetical order. Post your classic and vintage bikes that correspond to that letter, eg; C = Cinelli, Carlton, Ciocc. M = Mercian, Masi, Motobecane. And so on and so forth. The letter of the fortnight should correspond with the marque, not the model. For example; you could post your Tommasini Prestige in the T thread, but not in the P thread. If you're not sure, take a look at the word on your downtube. There's a grey area with people's names - Bruce Gordon, Claud Butler, etc., but I'll leave it up to the owners which thread is preferred. Make sense?

So let's see your Italvegas, Indians and Imbeciles...hang on.

This isn't going to be the most popular letter, is it?

1972 ItalVega Gran Rally
I have posted this bike previously in other threads. This bike was left for dead in a field in Morro Bay California. It was one of the rustiest bikes I ever worked on. I just could not let it die! The inside of the tubing , bottom bracket , head tube and all bearing surfaces were in very good condition. It is still a mystery why someone would just let this thing sit outside in a beach community for YEARS and not care. It had some really nice upgrades from the original bike. A lot of Super Record and even a Zeus fluted seat post. The original Cinelli leather cover was there but fell off while I was in the throws of the restoration. I decided to leave the patina look so it could tell its story. Read about it in my blog at joesvintageroadbikes.wordpres , Rusty Resurrection

I am not familiar with this bike. It has a very interesting seat tube lug/cluster . Does the seat post require a quill type ? Very nice bike , Italian? French? Joe

Italian, made in Savona by a company called Torello (across the bay from Genoa).

Current in the late 1950's and early 1960's.

Seat lug is Agrati "AM" pattern and is Malaguti style - the lug has integral plugs which go into the seat stay ends which are trimmed square.

There is a bare one in this image. Pattern here is Agrati "ROMA" -

In this design the seat tube extends above the lug and a collar is employed to bind the seat post.

On this cycle the collar is forged & exhibits the name of the bicycle; it is manufactured by Magistroni.

With lower calibre machines the collar is of stamped sheet.

Thank you for clearing that up! I was really puzzled as I did not see the device used as a stop for the brake cable as also a seat post binder. Very clean seat stay cluster indeed. That's why I love different classic bikes, there is no "standard" , making several of them very unique. Joe

Italvega Viva Sport S.N. 303182

hello,
here is an older Italvega w/ Campagnolo drivetrain. It's a little flexy but pretty sporty for an older ride.
I did upgrade the wheelset (the steel wheels were not doing it for me...)

Not sure what year, but my guess is mid 70s.

Indesteege. A Belgian brand. Frame is probably a Royal Nord. Came to me as part of a deal, and the lovely details have made me keep it.

I tried and failed to buy a sweet looking Ivor Johnson years ago. Seller thought they had something amazing and had it priced accordingly.

I have a nice 1974 Italvega NR, rode it 84 miles on Saturday. But alas, no pictures to be found. I'm posting to remind myself to take some.

Also an IRO fixed/SS, bought here on BF in a group buy. No pics of that one, either.

Cool! Never seen one. I like the integrated headlight bracket.
