Was thinking of converting it into a fixed gear, but will probably leave it geared. Component list at the end of thread.

[h=2]Centurion bike good deal to convert into fixie????[/h]
The funny thing is even the guys in the Fixie forum are saying keep it geared. I agree this is a good looking bike and very likely to be a great rider.
Hey guys, does this look like a good deal to convert into a fixed gear? Would probably negotiate on the price, but wanted some feedback first.
Ad says this:
CENTURION LEMANS RS ROAD BIKE - CELESTE &WHITE FRAME COLOR
THIS BIKE HAS A FRAME SIZE OF 54CM C TO C, WITH A STAND OVER HEIGHT OF 31 1/2". IT WILL FIT MOST RIDERS OF 5' 7" AND ABOVE.
THE BIKE HAS A TANGE #2 STEEL FRAME, WHICH PROVIDES A SMOOTH AND PLUSH RIDE (EASY ON THOSE SENSITIVE PLACES!). THE SHIMANO BAR END SHIFTERS ARE 8 SPEED, AND ALONG WITH THE SHIMANO 105 REAR DERAILLUER AND THE DOUBLE CHAINRINGS, ALLOW YOU TO CHOOSE FROM 16 GEAR SETTINGS. THE BIKE HAS BEEN SET UP BY A BIKE MECHANIC AND OPERATES FLAWLESSLY.
IN ADDITION TO THE SET UP, THE BIKE HAS :
*NEW CABLES AND HOUSINGS
*NEW BRAKE LEVERS AND PADS
*NEW BAR TAPE
THIS BIKE NEEDS NOTHING, AND IS READY TO RIDE.

Yeah, you did OK. If you want to convert it, go ahead. Just don't remove any frame fittings and save the old parts so you retro-fit it, if desired (and BG doesn't have to hunt you down).

Well I don't think this bike would be a good deal to convert into a fixie even if you got it for free. It will need a wheel set, crank, bb, chain minimum for about the price of the parts to convert it you can buy a proper fixie or a road bike that has been nicely converted used.
