I finally got my neighbor to the bike shop yesterday. He test rode a Cannondale Synapse and LOVED it. I couldn't talk him into getting it yet. He has a Fuji pedal-forward bike that he rides around our neighborhood a few times a month. He said we'll ride together so he can get built up and if he sticks with it he'll get the Synapse.
We were supposed to go out this morning but Mother Nature isn't cooperating. Maybe Monday or Tuesday.
We live where the arrow is pointing. The rain is moving west to east.

Yard work put me off bike riding. At least I am working on upper strength.

Its better to take care of your yard right after winter then during spring. Its even worst during summer.

I haven't seen you posting much lately. Glad you're still with us.
Have fun at the TdC in St. Augustine.

Just saw this. Good looking bike.

No riding since 8/5. All this rain is welcome but it would be nice if it rained at night, or at least later in the afternoon. Maybe I can get out tomorrow.

I took the day off in order to perform necessary lawn tractor repairs and maintenance
before it got too hot.
It o would have been a real drag to attempt that after a ride............

I survived the inguinal hernia surgery but the after effects are nothing like the prostate cancer surgery or the hernia surgery I had in May. With this one I have a 4" long incision on my lower right abdomen and it really hurts.

And my right side hurts (about 5"-6" to the top right of the incision) like it was hit with a bat. I can tell this is going to be a long recovery. I can't drive for 2+ weeks and I can tell from the location of the incision that I'll be off the bike for at least 2 months, maybe longer (each leg movement peddling the bike will pull on the incision).

Dragged out my old ATB and grabbed the fork off of it. Has the classic style curve at the rake. Same rake ~ 45mm as my 630 a little shorter in the wheel area though. Smaller axle holes, but I got two wheels that will fit on it. Steering tube is a lot longer and the threads were no where near my 630's setup. Cut the threads and extend the groove for the keyed washer. Filed out the rain roof on the steering tube nut so it'll thread all the way down. I want to keep the little bit of steering tube above the head tube. (That might look weird) If that works I'll throw my extender quill back in the spare box. Get a spacer tube and put another nut on top of it to hide the threads.

Ron, hearing about that down time makes me feel a lot better about the few weeks I am down...I guess.

Hopefully I am on the mend. I haven't been on the bike in a solid two weeks. I missed Mass the other night so I could continue healing. Very much looking forward to the possibility of people watching for Dragon Con next week. Great fun to ride around up there and see all the goings on.

Rode around a little last week and today. The fender was rubbing today so it is in a little downtime.
Took the rear wheel off and didn't stop there. Frame is outside breathing Frame Saver.
Guess I'll drill a hole for the fender in the cross member of the seat stays after the frame dries.
Screw the fender on it and hope it holds.
Gonna be fun.

I had my latest surgery two weeks ago yesterday and I learned that getting cut open (kinda like gutting a fish ) at age 71 ain't fun.
Yesterday we went to work at out church distributing clothing, household items, personal items (like soap, deodorant, etc) to some of the folks who lost everything in the hurricane that went thru last week. I stood for 1-1/2 hours handing out items (nothing heavier than about 3-4 pounds) and after that short period of time I was tired. I went and sat for about an hour and then did some other light work. When we left after being there for 4 hours I was whipped.
I hope this isn't an indication that when I can ride again it will be a longer time than I'm hoping for till I'm back up to speed.

I saw the doc today and got some excellent news. I can start driving as of today and I can start riding again in 3 weeks (Oct 3) . The way he talked with me after the surgery and the way I was sliced open I thought I'd be off the bike until Halloween or possibly Thanksgiving. So I'm counting down the days.

Got to the trail head this morning and when I put my cycling shoes on I flipped the buckle to tighten the strap and — pop. The strap came out of the shoe. Not repairable at the trail head so loaded up the bike and went home. I'll be gluing or riveting the strap back into the shoe. Hope it works.

No riding for me till Feb 28 or Mar 1. My wife and I are in north GA taking care of my wife's cousin who had knee surgery. No place for me to ride other than the narrow country roads. Not for me.
