My new bike has mini V's and I was wondering if it is an issue to use the set up in a road race.

Laurent Fignon ran cantis in the 1990 TdF because it was lighter.
Back in my college days, two decades ago, I've raced my cyclocross bike with road tires in road races. My cross tires back then are narrower than road tires these days.

I've ridden a mountain bike in a road race. (They make you take your bar ends off.)

They even allow those blades of mayhem known as disc brakes run, so you bet you can use cantis.

Interesting tidbit about the whole cross bike/mtb thing. I realized how much of a trigger happy moron roadie I was for races once a guy started riding our local A ride where we hammer the hills with his MTB and cross bike......on knobs.
He'd just suck wheel really well and take short pulls and never really attack. Sure enough, he comes in to the brewery finish right in the middle of the pack. Maybe not with a few of us finally getting totally away near the end..........but right there.
Cause he was smart in riding what he brought with him the best way possible. And being pretty darn strong.

My buddy races road, cross, and MTB on a Trek Boone with cantis. One bike to rule them all.
