Aventon Cordoba complete bike for $449 with free domestic shipping. I'm not going to provide any links or pics, 'cuz I don't want to start another riot. Google it if you're interested.

I had no idea that Heavy Pedal existed.
The Harlequin Jersey has the number 220 on it. What does that mean? I think is is "Second to none", right?
It's not like 420, is it? I'm really not into the pot smoking lifestyle and just want to make sure.

I've put a great number of miles on my HP kits.
220 has no drug references as far as I know and I'm quite a bit into the pot smoking lifestyle (no cancer for me!)
I'm not sure what the 220 is for. The kit is in honor of the VW Harlequin, so I'd guess it is something related to that.

Your cog is slipping.
The $379 version is built up by CityGrounds using an aluminum fork and crappy 6KU parts package, not the new complete bike being offered by Aventon that has a carbon fork and much better components (which retails for $449 regardless of where you buy it).

Kinda figured there was a different build kit, the way it said "built by CG" on there.

I talked/ complained to him about it and he said that a threadless is more practical or easier to replace (if needed) compared to a quill stem. He also showed me an old bike of his that had a quill stem and demonstrated how it made a creaking sound when he put pressure on the handlebar and he didn't like that. Anyway, he said he's going for practicality more than the looks.

- a part that requires disassembly/reassembly for fit adjustment is more practical
- one creaky stem is sufficient evidence for a categorical judgment
- producing lugged frames has nothing to do with looks, everything to do with practicality
Got it.

Does a quill stem require that the bar be slid out of the stem necessitating removal of tape and levers if the quill is to be replaced because of too short or long reach?

So my understanding is correct then, that tape and levers have to come off to change stems. Okay then, now I will challenge...
I've always struggled with reach and comfort, especially in the drops. I've tried 57, 55 and 53 size frames, seatposts with and without offset and a variety of stem lengths/rise on my bikes. The ability to dial in fit with the twist of a few bolts is of value to me personally. I consider myself a sensible person and it just makes sense to me to be able to swap without having to take the tape off the bars. I think removing a few bolts is way easier than retape.
Even with this latest bike it took some time to get the stem length dialed in. I went on several rides each with different stem lengths and even did back to back rides on the MUP - rode five or six miles, changed the stem, rode another five or six miles, just to compare. I don't think this is unreasonable.
Thanks for the info about removable face plate quills. The Deda stems linked are 73° too, exactly what I use. The only quality threadless 73° stems I could find were Nitto for 1 1/8 and these require the shim with 1" steerers. Good info. Thanks again.
