Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I returned and began digging the trench; I got my HIIT workout with a pick mattock in my hands. Soon after he comes walking back toward the house flexing his right arm and hand. Seems he brushed against the ground rod while working with a hot (high voltage) wire. He finished what he was doing, enough so that the house had power, and went to sit down. I sent him home for the day, as he was clearly affected more than he cared to admit by that shock. I hope his wife convinces him to see a doctor. and I hope he recovers ok. This guy tests circuits with his fingers. I make a point of walking away while he's doing that.
I wore myself out quickly, but managed to plug away for a few hours altogether. And managed to dig a 6 inch deep x 6 inch wide x 30 foot long trench through rocky ground. There is about a two meter patch of surface bedrock to go through, and our neighbor lent us his Dewalt hand held jackhammer. Between the wife and me, we have figured out how to insert and remove the chisel but not yet how to make it move. The saga continues...
“Plug away”? Seriously? Possibly the worst undeclared pun I have ever encountered.

And I don't get it. I'll sleep on it and see if it comes to me.

And the electrician went to the dr. and got an anti-inflam injection and another one tomorrow. He returned at 4, good as new.

Broke a Campagnolo 11 speed chain tonight on my Motta. I was guad-powering a short steep grade, probably 800 watts or so and snapped the sucker in half midway between the ends. Didn't have enough chain to make a complete wrap to be a single speed. Had to call the shame vehicle. Walked about a mile and a half till it arrived.

Anyway, chain had 3,400 miles on it according to my logs but still checked good...

Did you put the pin in using the secret campy handshake?

Don’t remember, but Campagnolo heard what happened from Facebook and is flying over a new chain and a tech to install it.

You're supposed to dial it up to 400, drop your adversary and then give them the look; not 800, snap your chain and give it the look.

New tires arrive today.

They're the first new tire (Hutchinson Performance 5 11Storm) that I'll have tried in the last 2+ years; I've been using the G-One Speeds exclusively since finding them a few years ago. Still love the Schwalbe, but want to try different flavors.

And, speaking of tires, can I stretch my tubulars over clincher rims, or do I need an extra tubular rim for that?

Lordy, no! You need tubular rims, my friend.

Although if you went ahead and did that and it actually worked and you didn't die and you posted pics of it in a thread of your own, the reaction amongst the punters would be beyond entertaining.

I think that he means that he just wants to stretch the tires on the clincher rims to prep them for use on proper tubular rims, not that he wants to run them on clincher rims.

If no tubular rims are available, you can begin the stretch on clinchers til tubular rims are available, but I'd still stretch them on tubular rims for a few days anyway.

But, what the Hell do I know, I quit using tubulars completely in 1996.
