Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Time to relax and do something fun?

When we bought our condo in Brooklyn, we had a female lawyer and the developer was represented by a Hasidic firm; their lawyers wouldn't talk to or even sit in the same room as our lawyer, so there was a lot of running back and forth by their aides. That was fun.

I hold the empty bottle and the bar with my left hand and switch the rear bottle to the front with my right hand. My hands are pretty big so I don't know how this would work with smaller hands.

And I wouldn’t be surprised if there is another required document after that one.
It's a sucky process, sometimes. Often, the first round of docs are requested by the loan processors - they have a very good idea of what's going to be needed, but they're not underwriters. When the underwriter does get their hands on the file, that's usually when the second round of doc requests goes out. Then, if the time frame is drawn out long enough, they may pull credit and ask for documents again so that everything is up-to-date. Pain in the ass.

Ah yes. The bike is fun, and even workouts are a blast, in their own strange way. Having nothing to train for until March of next year just took its toll. Bike maintenance time, which is also quite OK.

I built up a Light Bicycle rim yesterday, and I really like how that went.

I took my R3's on Flagstaff mountain, which I've done many times prior, as well as Evans and other descents, and overcooked the front rim. Weird, but stuff happens. So I ordered a 25 deep rim, and I built it on my lunch hour. I like it when stuff like that happens.

I took the bladder out of my Camelback, and use it for a commuting backpack. It works well.

I know racers sometimes burn out from training and although I've never raced I did 100 group rides per year (pre covid) and many of those rides had me at red line for hours and I would get burned out, too.
That's one of the things I love about mountain biking. It's such a change of pace from intense road riding and tends to be fun and casual. Even when I've been hammered by a fast group of mountain bikers it's still more casual than bloodthirsty, rip your legs off road riding.

It turns out I have a toothache/dental problem that is caused by my cycling. I was considering posting my question/concern in the 41, but I will start here.

Several months ago I developed a mild but annoying toothache in my right lower bicuspid tooth. Within a few weeks, one of the causes became apparent, it's my water bottle switch technique: I am VERY comfortable drinking from the DT water bottle (for now, I will call this the "front" bottle), but not at all comfortable drinking from the ST bottle (the "rear" bottle). So my technique over the years while riding is drink from the front bottle, and when that bottle is empty, switch bottles by holding front empty bottle in mouth between teeth (and biting pretty hard so as to not lose bottle), reach down and switch rear bottle to front, then place empty bottle in rear cage. I realized that the hard biting on the right side of my mouth was aggravating if not causing the toothache.

So now I have switched sides and hold front empty bottle on the LEFT side of my mouth when I do the bottle switcheroo. However, I am starting to notice some minor toothache on THAT SIDE!

I suspect the best solution is to get used to drinking from the rear bottle once the front is empty and not bother with the switcheroo, but it feels VERY awkward and unnatural, akin to writing with my left hand (and I am a rightie).

So my long-winded question really has two pieces, which are likely opposite sides of the same coin:

1. What's the best solution to this problem?
2. How do most road cyclists deal with an empty front water bottle?
I either hold the empty in one hand and perform the switcheroo with the other, while resting the hand with the empty on the top of the bar.

Or I just switch while stopped at traffic light.

Traffic light? I purposely plan my rides so there aren't any. Luckily, the area has enough old and back-roads that this is easily done. Other than one traffic light that's about 1 mile away from me, none of my usual routes have any traffic lights.

I've worked just fine and dandy with them, too, though I'm not female; are you? And I was under the impression that ultra-orthodoxy was part and parcel of Hasidism, is that not the case? Certainly seems to be in Brooklyn. And yes, extremists are nuts.

Yesterday's dew point before my ride. I don't think I've ever seen a dew point that high. I could tell it was very soupy without checking.

+1

I bought a Dick's Sporting Goods house brand hydration pack for the same reason. The hydration system is terrible, but the pack works well.
