I have never bought from him but I know people who have purchased his decals. They have said only good things. He also has a very extensive library of cycling artwork. Unless it is something very unusual, he/you won't have to recreate the artwork.

Excellent work and reasonable pricing. I turned to him when VeloGraphics could not reproduce the foil backed "Made In France" decals for my LeJeune. Also have purchased Reynolds and Columbus decals. He is working on the foil backed Gitane decals for several people.

I've bought the French 531 decal (CV-6's avatar) and a set of 531c decals. The decals were very well made & applied with no issues. I didn't need the 531c fork decals as the ones I had were in good shape, but his new ones were just slightly larger than the original. The ST decals were the same as the original size, so no issues there. I've also used the Campy decals he likes to include. Can never have too much Campy Pretty fast shipping from Oz to the eastern US, too.

Just bought a set of Columbus SLX decals with a free Campy decal included. For $11, it's hard not to.

I've bought several 531 decals from him: good stuff, fast shipping from Australia (faster than many US domestic eBay sellers, actually), highly recommended.

Good stuff and reasonably priced but not show quality. I bought his 60's - 70's Bottecchia decal set. At first just based on the picture he had on eBay I could see a few descrepancies and he was happy to fix those. Then by chance he sent me the old decals by mistake. He caught the error before they arrived but it gave me the chance to actually see the decals in person. I was able to find a few more issues comparing them to my originals and contacted Greg but by then he had already had the new decals printed and didn't want to make any additional changes. If my original decals were totally trashed or I were refinishing a lower end model these decals would have been fine. Due to descrepancies in the large panel decals though for my Giro d'Italia I decided to leave the originals on with a few little tears and scratches rather than replace them and only used the ones I really needed. Kind of a partial restoration. I think it came out nice. I would certainly buy from Greg again but I'd make sure I knew exactly what I was getting.

I can only say good things about Cyclomondo. I've purchased a variety of decals and I can say that they have all been top quality reproductions. Easy to use and they seem to stay in place.

How are they applied? Do you have to wet them, slide them off a backing, and fit them into place (in a race against the clock) before they dry?

I'm awaiting delivery on my Columbus SL decals from Cyclomondo. Payment was sent on 10-3 and the auction says 6 to 12 days for international delivery. Overseas mail delivery always makes me a bit anxious.

I've been very pleased with his attitude and service, shipping was pretty quick considering the distance. Quality of the 531 decals I bought is great, but I had "correctness" issues with some of the Allegro decals he made. Not quality (which is consistantly high) but concerning the art itself. The decals JRrestore supplied are great in all respects, I just applied his along with some from Greg and am really stoked with the results....pics will be posted soon.

The decals arrived today in good shape. Detailed, concise instructions for applying, which helps. Comparing them to what's left of the originals, very close reproduction, though the color of the decal body is a hair off. Nothing I can't live with.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words and I didn't feel like typing that much so here are some pictures of the CycloMondo decals for a 60's - 70's Bottecchia next to the originals. As you can see there are some descrepancies in the artwork. Quality of the decals are fine. Greg altered the checkered flag and olympic ring "Made in Italy" decal artwork for me after I sent him pictures of the originals and I think they came out quite nice. He declined to change the panel decals as he had already had those printed.

As I have mentioned in previous posts, I purchased Reynolds 531 french decals from him about a year ago now. The quality of this particular set of decals was not exactly great. The green color in the "531" was offset (ghosted) from the base outline of the number. I wrote him back about the problem, and he said that this "ghosting" was fairly common in the real decals as produced in the 70's (?). Anyway, I was not that happy with them. To his credit, he offered to "make it right", but did not elaborate. I have been kind of waiting to see if he starts producing some other decals that I need, and then do a complete shipment, including the "make it right" decals. However, his shipping costs and delivery time were very good. One other slight "bone" to pick with him is that with his 531 "three tubes" decals, he also supplies fork decals. Of course, almost all "three tubes" bikes did not have Reynolds forks, so these extra decals are not needed. I would rather see a reduction in price for the one than pay the regular price for the 3!

He's got a set for a '74 Peugeot PX10 on eBay, but I don't think he realizes what they are. The BIN price is about what I paid for a set from Yellow Jersey and he may have copied that set. There's an extra lion on his, just like on mine.

Cyclomondo or other Gitane foil decals
I'd like to know if the foil-backed Gitane repro decals can be coated over? either clear-coated w/ powder
clear coat or liquid clear coat? What about baking after the clear coat? The shop said the powder coat
gets baked to about 400 deg. F, and the liquid coat gets baked to about 140-200 deg. F. Has anyone applied any clear coats over these decal reproductions? What was your experience? Other advice? thanks much.

I can't speak from experience but I would be inclined to say no way you could powder coat over those decals and bake at 400 degrees. They are not made for that. Liquid should work fine.
I got one of his Columbus gold foil decals and it was OK when new but ink has worn off after about 1 1/2 years so it basically now looks like a gold foil rectangle with ink smudges. See my original post above with pictures and you'll notice that an original 35 year old Columbus decal still has all the graphics intact. The picture shows the CycloMondo foil decal when new. It does not look like that today.

I have some from Greg, with some custom (rare color combos) and he did a terrific job, I had to badger him to pay for the added time, so bought two sets just so if I botched one, I would not have to bug him again.
My suggestion on resources like this, be kind, the profit margins are thin until the numbers scale up, and you don't see the printer tests, and "outs" that often happen. And the foil substrate is super expensive compared to plain white.
Nit picking is fine, but be ready to support the work behind it with some cash, especially for the low volume brands.
