That is exactly how I would describe the usual suspects for "goofing" on threads for sport, with references to horse beating, pictures of pig walking and other OT BS and numerous non helpful/negative/snarky responses as well references or hints about other threads that may have been made by the OP in order to harass him.

I'm not trying to be snarky but I can't relate, I started having fun like some of the others here, very early in life. .What I think is it should be a passion to you on some level to enjoy it. There is some good advice in this thread I hope you can get what you want out of it.

I might understand the op's predicament. I don't think I would like riding near as much if I hadn't rebuilt my own vintage lightweights, didn't know much about bikes, and only rode heavy 3-speeds with 35mm tires. If my town didn't have all its bike infrastructure, that would be another reason to be uninspired.

The real answer to the OP's question is that he will enjoy riding when he decides he wants to enjoy riding. Then he will reach out to learn how to alleviate the things that cause discomfort and the like, instead of asking people he doesn't know when he will start to like it. That's a question nobody but the OP can answer.
It's like me asking when I will start enjoying broccoli. After 60+ years of never liking broccoli, nobody can tell me when I will start liking it.

I am going to switch gears here and suggest that maybe a new or better bike just might make the difference. I know there are posts here already that say otherwise, and logic suggests that they are correct, but sometimes you just have to go with your emotions and get something new and shiny that excites you every time you look at it or ride it. It's just like buying a new car - you can't wait to go out and drive it even if it is just back and forth to work every day. When you park it, you turn and look back at it as you walk away.
Of course, the downside to this idea is that eventually the newness wears off and then some other shiny new toy catches your eye.... But hopefully by then you'll be over whatever doldrums you're in now.

Riding a bike with a better gear range for an area that one rides in can likely make the ride MORE ENJOYABLE, and putting Spicy Brown Mustard on broccoli or green beans or peas or Brussels Sprouts makes a world of difference in the taste --- much-MUCH BETTER

A lot of people don't cycle as a "sport", with training regimes, and what have you. A lot of us cycle as transportation and simply because we like it.
Do I suffer at times? Of course, but it's not about the suffering to me, regardless of how much load I carry, regardless of that uphill or headwind. I enjoy it despite of those things, not because of it.
