Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

See, that's the kicker for me and the Caledonia - it looks like a wonderful bike, but I couldn't justify it unless I were to go with the 5 and it would have to be Di2. The front end cable management would be the biggest selling point in coming from the R3 and it's not available in any configuration lower than the Cal5 with Ultegra Di2.

Yeah, the recommendations for young athletes are insane enough, but

In addition, older adults have what we call anabolic resistance. They need more protein to get the same increase in MPS compared to younger adults. Therefore, since older adults need more protein to optimally stimulate MPS, they should aim for at least 40g of protein per meal if they want to maximize gains (Churchward-Venne, 2016).
I have some concern about the health implications of that much animal protein, chiefly the potential effect of whey powder (dairy) on prostate cancer risk. I consume about 40 g/day and have cut back on the cheese and yogurt. LSS is on still on a low-carb diet, loves her beef and pork, and has subscribed us to a fancy, locally produced, meat thing, so I'm also eating way more of that than I would otherwise. Oh well, at least I'll go out well fed.
