Addiction 2021.1

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I suck at bunny hopping, but there is a bridge near me with a huge “lip” that is incredibly jarring, so I have started to pull the front wheel up which minimizes the stress and pain in my hands/wrists. I have not bothered trying to lift the rear as I don’t know the technique and somehow the backend tolerates a hard bump better.

I do the "English Bunnyhop", which means basically as I approach the joint I crouch just a little bit then jump up, bringing the bike with me. It kinda works. I'm pulling up on the handlebars, but I think I'm not always pulling up with my feet.

As Mojo31 hinted at, it's weird to keep rehashing that many years after you quit school.

First ride on my quasi-level saddle. It's still not right. I think it needs to be moved forward.

Also the mystery noise continues. The bike shoppe guy said he could not recreate it from the rear wheel. So now I'm revisiting the possibility that it could be the BB? I had dismissed that because the BB doesn't have a lot of miles on it (compared to previous ones) and the noise doesn't just happen when I'm applying extra force (going uphill). I can't tell from the sound if it's coming from the crank or the back. Alas.

Despite those hardships, it wasn't all bad. I got to ride in short sleeves. At the office park a couple Canadian geese honked at me. I assume they were bringing greetings from the homeland.

And then there's this:

Sherrill Blvd is the road the Brown Squirrel is on.

Would you rather not get older?

Yeah, and why doesn't it happen with other memorable moments like my experience being married to my ex-wife? School was like a big party compared to that.

So, yeah. You're doing about 2-2.5x the time I'm doing, plus half of mine is in the garage at the moment.

Makes sense. Like Johnny Majors, Jackie Sherrill was head coach at Pitt.

There's a little watched Health and Fitness section @ Twitch.

https://www.twitch.tv/directory/game...20%26%20Health

Most of the streams are weight lifters (yawn), but right now a guy is Zwifting. I've never seen it in action. It looks pretty dumb.

Anyway, one of you should stream your Zwifts and we'll post our analysis in the comments

Most people say they graduated. On a related note, most people stop looking for a lost item once they find it. That's why it was found at the last place they looked.

Geez. Like Mystery Science Theater 3000. But who's Crow and who's Tom Servo?

I got this yesterday. Unfortunately I won't be riding until my pain goes away. I'm not sure the beeping laser is helping. I need to do my stretches...
