Need a New Bike

So, yes, this is a "which bike should I get" thread.

After falling in love with cyclocross, I've decided that I need a new bike. New as in new, not new to me. (I'm not completely opposed to a used cross bike as long as it was gently used, maybe something ridden to church on Sundays by a little old lady. Okay, a large old lady.) Also, I'd like gears.

Frame material doesn't really matter to me, as long as the quality is there.

105 or better. SRAM equivalent would be fine. The bike should probably have wheels. I'd like them to not break.

Under $1200. Preferably under $1000.

A brief search of teh internets has shown me that I'm chasing unicorns. Your thoughts?

Twice in the last 3 months, Performance has run 20% off sales and twice I have failed to grab either the Fuji Cross comp(105 @$999) or the Fuji Cross Pro (ultegra @ $1299). Give those 2 a look.

That? Is a wonderful idea. Thank you.

I just picked up a Cross Comp at Performance two weeks ago. Alu frame and carbon fork; 105 shifters and front der and an Ultegra rear for an effective price of $640.
I've been looking for awhile myself and this seemed like the best deal around.
23.5 lbs on my scale with pedals and 1 bottle cage.
$799 - double points of 20% for later purchases
