If that buried seatpost moves it would be worth looking at.

Another cheap Allez Epic.

https://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/bi...099600342.html

Specialized Roadbike 60cm 14speed - $200 (Jamaica Plain)

Bike is ready to ride, Carbon fiber tubing frame, size 60cm seat tube measurement "center to top", with shimano 105 components: (crankset, front and rear derailleur, brake calipers, hubs, brake levers, and down tube shifter - all Shimano 105) Brakes work good, brake pads are in good shape, shifts into gear fine, tires hold air, 700c wheel set is true, tires still have plenty of life in them, chain is lightly greased, saddle is comfortable, seat post can be adjusted, pedals spin, drop handle bars with levers, black grip tape. 2 gears in the front 7 gears in the back.

Can fit someone who is 5'10"-6'7" roughly in height. Using a road bike height chart.

As long as the post is up the bike will be available, the post will be taken down as soon as the bike is sold.

He says it's a 21-inch (54cm). I'm only 5' 6", but I like that size. Is there anything in particular to look out for on the early Allez Epics?

I had one until I sold it when I found a CF Look from the same era (not really any better a bike, just more rare), but also more recently built one up for a friend with 9 speed ultegra. I love them and at that price its a steal.

The things to look out for are:
1. cracks in the seat-post lug: its aluminum and if it gets over-tightened it can crack. not normally a problem if people used the right sized seatpost, but....
2. bubbles or corrosion around the aluminum lugs. Make sure the clearcoat is not pealing. Its easy enough to fix the clearcoat, but if its been open then its letting oxygen in- which can start to break down the epoxy between the CF/Alu Joints. Later models were painted to help with this- so later painted versions tend to be more robust-- but lack the distinctive style of the first era.
3. basic stuck seatpost and stem- again CF and Alu can corrode. this is less a problem about getting them out, but an indication that there is more corrosion in the lugs that you cant see. that the seatpost and quill are clean and easy to move sends a message to me that its been an inside bike well taken care of and the rest is probably also ok,

people either love them or hate them, but you won't know until you try- as its definitely a different riding experience than steel.

the one you are asking has not much for pics so its hard to tell, but that Boston one, I'd totally go buy right now if it was next to me

also: Worcester MA, I got some memories from there- I was driving my 76 BMW 2002 to see a friend in the Blizzard of 96, coming from upstate NY, dropped a friend off in Boston, then headed back to Worcester... and the snow just got too thick for my rear-wheel drive with no chains btw- it came a point it just was not going to make it. I managed to slide the car into a McDonalds parking lot, then got the snow shoes and ski poles I had in the trunk out.. and proceeded to snow shoe my way across the city to my friends house (I had never been there.. just had the address.. all long before cell phones and google). So I asked people along the way.. it was dark.. probably 7pm, people out shoveling the drives- giving me directions, all smiles as I was the only one on the road just snow shoeing along. and I was really just in the middle of the road as all traffic had stopped at that point.
it ended up being one of my best life memories and I always think of Worcester as a great town with friendly helpful people. (but very very cold)

^^^^^ Study in contrast. First ad could easily qualify for Wacky World, given the photography, cryptic text, and the obviously lazy dependency on auto-correct that completely flubbed the model name. And wouldn't you know it, that one is still up, and the second one, advertised with REAL English text and REAL photographs, is sold.
