Hello from Central Texas (Austin area)

Hi Everybody!

I live in a town just north of Austin, Texas.

I've been road cycling on and off (more on than off) since about 1980. I raced BMX during the 70's and 80's, and XC in the late 1990's. I started riding a road bike to school and to my job at the bike shop when I was 16 years old. I raced road in the 90's and early 2000's.

These days, It's fitness road and a little bit of recreational gravel riding.

My number one bike is a custom 2011 Waterford R-33 with Mechanical Campy Record 11, and my number 2 bike is a 2020 Specialized Tarmac Pro Force eTap AXS 12-speed. Yes, the steel bike really is still number one. I also sometimes ride a Salsa Journeyman gravel bike. This spring I was planning to do a handful of crits for the first time in 17 years, hence the new Tarmac, but the pandemic cancelled all events. I can still train and go out for rides with my hot wife though. I'll be 56 years old this summer.

Stay healthy everyone.

Cheers!

Austin is great! Lots of stuff to see and do. My wife and I now live in a smaller town north of Austin. The cycling is great all around here, just avoid Round Rock which is south of our town and north of Austin. They don’t have many bike friendly roads or motorists there. But the rest of the area is pretty awesome.

Welcome, I had a friend that lived in Austin for 12 years until he passed in 2018. I loved visiting him and going out for food in Austin. Did some bike riding but not much. Traffic is horrendous! My friend, Dave, had a cat that he adopted off the streets, it had been abandoned by two different people, When he was dying he could not find anyone to take the cat, Austin has a real serious cat problem, so the cat likely would have wound up on the streets again. I told him if he could not find anyone, I would take the cat home with me, Millville DE., and if I could not find her a home, I would keep her. I still have the cat 2 1/2 years later.

Enjoy the ride and be safe out there.
