Time to sell this and perhaps move on to another project. Unfortunately this one is too big for me. The gearing is also too tall for me. I believe this bike is better suited for a collector/aficionado. I am somewhat new to high quality vintage bikes. If you have been paying attention here, this bike has been posted with questions before.





It was in decent shape at time of purchase, but needed cleaned up and some stuff taken off. Not too many marks/scratches. One on top tube from a lock perhaps. Also thinning paint on one spot on fork leg where I tried to get tape adhesive off from generator mounting. I saw no dents or frame damage.

I wanted to at least make it rideable and presentable, so I got rid of the safety levers and added new brake cables and tape.





Size is 24" from BB to top tube lug center at seat post, 23" from BB measured vertical to center of top tube, 23" ctc top tube, 33 3/4" standover height, 10 5/8"BB height.

So, I think I will ask $450 which doesn't seem out of line. I bought it for a good price and am not trying to make much. I just had fun, but this one doesn't really fit me. Price does NOT include the saddle or toe clips. New guy, so this will be local pickup as I don't really know about shipping fragile bicycles. I am in Toledo Oh and can drive up to a couple hours to meet halfway which includes quite a large portion of the midwest. I would be interested in trades for something too; a quality vintage Italian similar to this but more my size, or a very nice vintage tourer/sport tourer as an upgrade over my old Schwinn SuperSport. Thanks for looking.

Price reduction to NOW $300 (edit). If it doesn't get any interest at that price, I will keep it. I have a couple freewheels I can try on it if I keep it. It is 120mm rear spacing, so a 5 speed 14-28 I have ought to work to get a couple easier gears for me. The riding quality is quite pleasant, so I am not out either way. I did get some vintage Christophe toe clips and straps to put on it, and they will be included if it does sell. A couple of other pics including the minor paint loss where a generator was mounted. Quite presentable for being 55 years old.

I didn’t get any interest, and wasn’t in great need of the money. Here in the Midwest, something like this is seldom encountered. I decided to keep it and change a few things for that “French” fit. I am not really an experienced frame aficionado, but riding it is exhilarating. I swapped out the stem to one with less reach, and put on on a Sakae Radnerr bar that was a bit wider for a better feel. Some Pasela Panaracers in 28 mm were added and compliment the ride nicely.

I put on an old Suntour 14-26, 6 speed freewheel to get a low gear at least a bit below 50 inches. I did have to move one thin axle spacer from side to side, and I didn’t mess with the dishing. The Gran Sport rd shifts the 3 tooth jumps to the two biggest sprockets very coarsely, but I guess that is what it is from what I read. Weather here is just starting to improve, so perhaps I will get to ride it a bit. To me riding it is akin to going out in a vintage car. I will just appreciate it for what it is.

$300 (edit) now, I have this one in a different configuration now, but could put the stock campy and Frejus parts back on it. I have too many bikes and this is too big for me so is seldom ridden and I am out of room.

Also in search of and would like to try out an early Raleigh International. Trade? F&F trade…?

Cool bike, I remember seeing it when I was at your place for the Paramount. I have too many bikes, but if this one doesn't sell by the time I get back to BG in a few weeks I will come take a look. Price is certainly reasonable.

I would be interested in something like a Raleigh International in trade for this, or a frame with a few parts to make it a more even trade. Some other cool vintage sport tourer also considered. Older guy here, so need easier riders. Triples appreciated.

Too many bikes so $300 now. I would have to put it back into stock configuration if someone is interested in it. It is too big and over geared for me. Might trade for something interesting the sport touring spectrum.

What a fine bike at a bargain price!
I think the "no shipping" is why you still have this. Maybe check with a local reputable bike shop for a price to pack it so you can have a shipping option for potential buyers.

I hung around and later worked in a shop that sold (among other European brands) Frejus and Legnano bikes in the late '60s. Can't remember for sure whether the Frejus fenders had logos, but I'm pretty sure that the fenders that came with the Legnano bikes had the logo and that the center 1/3 of the fender was painted to match the color of the bike.

The fenders just have the Frejus sticker from what I could see. Whatever the original levers were that it originally came with are now gone. Cool Frejus branded crank with that easy riding 47-50 half step. It came with a Regina 22 or 24t freewheel. Real men back then. Yes, I am quite averse to shipping.

Not sure if it was the C.O.N.I./Cinelli manual or some other Italian book of racing info, but whatever it was had a drawing showing the correct way to shift with a two-chainring-four-sprocket gearing setup. The freewheel was a straight block, or nearly so, and the chainrings also looked to be very close in size.

The drawing made clear that the inner chainring was meant to be used only with the inner two sprockets and the outer ring only with the outer two sprockets.

Don't know if they were worried about maintaining optimal chain line or about operating within the chain wrap limits of the early rear derailleurs. Maybe both.

And despite what I have seen from others, I had poor luck with the Gran sport rear and larger freewheels. I did have it working satisfactory with a 14-26. Currently running a 144bcd Superbe front with a 14-32 five speed rear and a Suntour VX long cage. Not really appropriate but rideable for this old guy.

for the older bikes that have gran sports for RD's, i switch them out with a record RD (1963 through '68 versions). they look nearly identical to the gran sport but are better shifters. i'm running one on a 1959 frejus with a 14-32t rear and a single chainring. shifts fine.

I am in Dayton Ohio and have a pretty cool 23 inch Schwinn World Voyageur. It is the bike with the first Gen Dura Ace. Some folks like them. I had the wheels responded to new 27 inch wheels.

Must of my bikes are 24 inches. I may have a couple that are smaller.

Actually those world voyagers are very cool, but pretty similar to stuff I already have. The 23” is my size like my 73 Super Sport, but doesn’t really fill a niche. 56cm is closer to my size. I was kinda wanting to try a vintage Raleigh International from the early era.

I have an extremely rough very early international frameset. It has a top tube dent and significant rust. It's yours for the taking if you want a serious project. I think it's around 22" I can check if you're interested.

Thanks for the kind offer, but that is more than I want to tackle now and I already have 3 bikes for sale. Problem is I don’t really want to ship. I have another I never ride I should sell; a Peugeot U 014. I also have a neglected Torpado Nuovo Sprint in the lineup that I know will be too sporty for me too. That’s 5 excess bikes now. Sounds like a problem. After being in this game for not real long, I have come to realize which geometry and style suits me best. Others acquired along the way see little use now.
