Never had this happen on a ride before
Brooks saddle tension bolt, lost while riding
Riding with Andy_K and friends, stopped to regroup, got back on my bike and heard something bounce through the spokes, figured it was a rock or twig. a bit of riding felt like the saddle was too low, stopped a few miles later and noticed this.

Similar, on a British Roadster, on that one the nose of the saddle tore, bolt dropped clear into a storm drain...

Not good! I guess i need to check my Brooks/ Ideal saddles every once in a while. I honestly have not heard of this. I have heard of them tearing when they get old and dry from lack of conditioning, but not mechanical failure. A first time for everything! Joe

Turned out fine, ride was over halfway over, and I was near the South Market Cafe, close enough to pedal over standing, so I called up my wife and asked if she wanted to meet me for lunch: Last time you were there:

My fellow riders suggested the same, but my wife came to pick me up and have lunch nearby, didn’t want to interrupt that good mojo. Besides, I knew I have some old saddles at home for spare parts.

This just happened to me and I got a 1/4” 3 “ long threaded rod and two 1/4” nuts for about $2 at Lowes. Works so far and will probably start carrying a spare set.

Every few rides I push down at the wide part of my brooks, if it gives much at all I will tighten the bolt a little, maybe a quarter turn or so, until the saddle firms up some. I had a brooks swallow that I failed to monitor the bolt, and eventually had the leather replaced due to sagging.

I think there's 2 primary types or lengths. Rudi filled me in when I lost one a few years back They are available, I bought one in a shop in Toronto.
