Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

No, I don't think it's supposed to be there. Doesn't look that bad in the pictures, though. But since it's new, you should exchange it.

Well, the bike clearly takes clamp derailer, but why the dent? All my clamp on MTB derailers work well on perfectly round tubes. All I can figure is room for the parallelogram to get into small ring because of oversize seat tube. Still odd, though - seat tube doesn't look THAT big.

I can see it in the online photos. It does appear to be intentional

Ridley needs to get some identifying graphics on that design element! Perhaps they're still working on finding a catchy name for it.

Derailer Divot!

You heard it here first. Ridley, if y'all wanna use that, you can in exchange for a Compact with Rival, size medium, 100mm stem. Thx.

I can't make it out on my display, but I did think it was probably for the clamp. Odds if it was a dent the paint would be chipping.

Yes, it's normal. Lots of frames have them. (PLEASE don't send the frame back!)

yes, of course it is supposed to be there. It's for front derailleur clearance when you shift to the inside chainwheel. My Pinarello has it, too.

I remember a friend in my cycling club totally panicking when he first saw the little drainage hole located below the bottom bracket on the bottom of his frame.

That is a nice frame. Even with the dent... I've seen of the FD indentations from other Ridleys and yours is not as pronounced as some of the ones I've seen.
