Lubri Disc

Just wanted to post a kickstarter I saw in my Google news this morning.

Sounds like an easy way to take your money. Do you mechanics think this was something that needed to be invented?

Nice idea, not really sure it's needed, wouldnt; be suprised if you can get ones from China now, or as soon as someone over there sees it, looks too expensive for a a bit of foam, a cable reel and tin.

Not too much different from this, a bit more compact, and in a tin, but the ad doesn't sho where your meant to keep the re-fll of oil Finish Line - Bicycle Lubricants and Care Products - No Drip Chain Luber?

Who the heck carries lube with them on a ride? Touring, sure, but a day ride?

I think this is a neat idea, not to take with you but to apply an even amount of lube. Still I'll keep with my one link one swipe of Chain L method. Andy

I'd be more interested if they had shown it being used on a not brand new chain. There was no dirt on any of the chains or gears it was being used on. And it looks like it would just wipe one side of the outside of the chain, not putting the lube where it's needed.
Dumb idea.

I'd be interesting to see how well this works. Just looking at it, I can imagine it's a great way to paint a very small amount of oil on the surface of the rollers (not where it's needed). If you're chintzy enough with the lube, it'll never wick its way into the interior of the chain to actually, you know, lubricate the chain. But since it's on the outside, it can attract all kinds of dust, dirt, grit, and grime. Net effect, dirty chain, not well lubricated, and then you transfer the dirt to the roller on the next pass.

Not saying it will happen, but it could.

Can make your own with a piece of sponge and just keep it in a container with your choice of lube....or just apply your choice of lube to a piece of sponge and apply. I'll try it next time and see how well it works.
