Damn McEwen is good
did you guys see the race this morning?
pretty awesome. I can't believe McEwen is like 35 and he's untouchable. He is now ties with
old man Zabel for stage wins... whew
and yesterday, I thought for sure Kloden had the prologue in the bag, I almost turned the tv off,
but I wanted to see Cancellara ride, I'm glad I did. I can't believe the time gap he created. He was on fire!!

I'm watching the replays againg tonight on the sprint finish of stage 1 and man, McEwen absolutely smoked Boonen and Hushovd and all those guys! After a fricking crash like 7 miles from the finish!!!

The fastest amatuer TT guy in NJ is also 35. 35 is not necessarily old and slow. Often it's old and FAST.

that finish was sickk!!!!! Especially to come from a crash so close to the finish. They interviewed him after his win, and he said that his team all waited for him, he couldnt hold his handlebars let alone switch gears, and he could barely move his right leg. Pretty gutsy performance if you ask me. Cancellara prologue was pretty awesome as well, the only one to break the 9 min barrier.
Pretty explosive start to this tour, Im enjoying it.

It looked like someone lit a fuse when McEwen took off. He was passing riders like they were going backwards. I hope the next 19 finishes are as exciting.

McEwen reminds me of a relentless Jack Russell terrier. I love how he dishes it to the the big boys.

That was an amazing performance! That pileup happened at around the 25K mark and that group of 8 riders was well off the back of the peloton till about the 10K mark. If I remember the announcers correctly they rejoined the peloton just inside of the 6K mark which means that McEwen would have had to work like mad to make his way to the front of the peloton to be in on the sprint. The announcers pretty much stated that it would be too much for him to do, just moments before he did it.
What makes this so unbelievable is that the peloton didn't sit up and wait for those guys. Quickstep and Lampre were putting the hammer down at the front with other sprinters teams all jockeying for position as well so they were moving pretty well. For him to make up that distance after being so far back was truly incredible. It also means that noboby in the team cars thought to radio to their guys that he had rejoined the peloton because if they had then none of the other sprinters would have been caught so off guard. The view that really worked for me was the overhead shot from the helo. You can see a leadout moving up the left side of the road and then Boonen moves to the right and just begins to move forward when Robbie shoots past him as if he's stuck in cement. Just incredible speed there. On the heels of Cancellara blowing up the TT it's been two great days at the tour, with many more to come I hope.

You should use a thread title like "Damn *****! (Stage 1 spoiler alert)" so you don't spoil it for people.

McEwen is obviously doping if he can manage to come from behind, with an injury, and blow everyone else away the way he did. Luckily WADA will get to the bottom of this and will strip him of his title after he wins The Tour.

did anyone see stage2? I listened to it on the radio but waiting to go home and watch it later on TV. I'll leave it at that so I dont ruin it for anyone else. Stage II's finish was also exciting
