Dahon Classic III Newbie
So I am a camping person, and have an old 1959 Shasta bumper pull travel trailer if anyone knows what that is. With two adults and two kids, space is at a premim, and I just don'thave room fopr bikes on our trips. Still, I figured they would be handy if I could evercome across a cheapfoldable one.
Couple weeks ago at a swap meet here in CO I came across and boght two Classic III's....for $30! Total! Now they need seats, and brake adjustments, and probably some other stuff I havent figured out yet, but itis exactly what I needed for campground and camping purposes around small towns etc.
My questions:
Where do I get owners manual/service manual? Can't seem to find, but I just started looking, came across this site and thought I would ask the experts.
Second, one is loose where the front post bend to apparently fold down. Wobbly loose. Opening it up, there seems to be a collar with 4 tab type areas arond the outside, and the collar is on the outside too...not sure what I am looking at or if this is a tightening adjustment or?
Often there are YouTube videos - Thats where I am going next but I am interested to see responses. Cool little bikes, and I lovevvintage stuff!

Congrats on a great deal, my Dahon Classic is my favourite bike. What you’re looking at is the headset. Pop off the black plastic cover, disassemble the headset and regrease it, then tighten everything up and it should work fine. The top notched ring is a lock ring and the lower one tightens the headset. You may have to adjust a but to get it just right. I’m guessing if it’s loose you can unscrew both by hand. To tighten you can just use a Robertson screwdriver and hammer. I strongly recommend servicing the hubs and checking the adjustment screw on the frame hinge to make sure it’s tight enough. Happy riding!
