Anybody here do yoga?
I've heard that yoga can have some pretty positive effects on your cycling skills, especially your flexibility. Can anyone attest to that?

I do. I haven't been attending classes as often as I used to, but I am working on getting back into it.
It has helped my posture, flexibility, and breathing.
I highly recommend it.

I did yoga, helped immensely with back pain on the bike and now I use the stretches after a ride, it really helped with my breathing /relaxation on the bike as well

2X a week
It helped with my bad back, it helped strengthen my core and really stretches you out. I got the Yoga for Cyclists DVD and swear by it.
Regular yoga classes are fine, but don't necessarily meet a cyclist's specific needs. There is some serious MILF action in the classes though...

bikram (sp?) yoga is not necessary - it's a fad though. find the type/style of yoga that suits you best.
i liked yoga for athletes classes through this place in venice,ca: https://www.go2yas.com/
all the yoga, postures specifically beneficial to athletes, minus the sutra scriptures.
sorry this post was typed as it is - i severely broke my left wrist last monday and i'm typing with one hand.

Yes, at least once a week. 90 minutes of power yoga, which is a flavor of yoga with emphasis on flowing moves and is quite athletic. It is also done in a heated room so you sweat buckets. I find it keeps my nascent back or neck issues firmly under control, helps a lot with bike position and endurance and the (ah-em) scenery at the yoga class can't be beat!

I do the cyclo-zen stuff, which has a lot of yoga-based stuff (as does cyclo-core). The zen stuff has done wonders for my back (it has both a strength and stretching section for back issues)...

Yes - Kundalini several times/week.
It does help with breathing and flexibility -- but more importantly, the meditation really centers my mind and allows me to let go of things. My focus is much better and I find myself a whole lot happier since I started.

my nice bike is at home
If you do it 2x per week you will feel stronger on your bike (and everywhere) The thing it also does is get blood flowing to organs and parts of your body the cycling or other sports for that matter do not. Swimming is the closest sport to yoga IMO. (I should go back and do some damn yoga it has been awhile)
It helps everything but you will never know unless you practice it, that is go at least once a week. You don't have to tell any one. And there are lots of nice people there.
Okay, I convinced myself!

I did yoga in College(no it wasn't a whole class, just a subset of Indian Cultures)
Anyway, I was definitely more flexible.

After a L4-5 lower back fusion four years ago I thought my cycling days were over. For a while I was in physical therapy which didn't really help that much. Then I tried yoga and slowly my lower back discomfort lessened and I became much more flexible again. Now I take two yoga classes a week and practice at home daily and am riding at pre-surgery levels!

and significant improvement in overall physical fitness and mental health...
15-minutes every morning first thing out of bed is a great way to kickstart the day...

I just started taking a basic Yoga class last week. Meets 2 times a week. Obviously too early to see if it's making a difference, but it seems like it will in the long run. Better flexibility, better breathing, both are big pluses.

I do Yoga with my wife once a week, and it has helped with flexibility and balance. I have noticed a difference on the bike.
