Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

But it's built in "clean room conditions!" They've obviously never seen the back of most bike shops. (Where these owners will undoubtedly take their bikes for service after the first flat tire.)

pffft I guarantee these bikes will never even be ridden. Sort of like that limited edition Colnago for $19K, it will be purchased by collectors and stuffed into a museum or something.

Interesting design on the rear dropouts and belt tensioning system.

What am I missing? There isn't one revolutionary thing on that bike. CF frame...very common. Belt drive...been done. Space age looks...whatever. 17lbs? My $1600 bike weighs a full pound less.

Yeah, I really don't get that. A gently swooping top tube like the Tarmac or Oltre makes sense. That abrubt bend does not.

Speaking of the Oltre, I just virtually built up an Oltre with SRAM red and Mavic clinchers (!) and it still came out under 16 lbs and $9K. (www.competitivecyclist.com)

Why is it when a bike that's truly stupid expensive comes out, it's always a fixie? In any case, this CF beauty is downright cheap compared to this beauty that costs $100K stock...

What stuck me was how so much of that bike was unique and unlike most anything that I have seen on other bikes, with the exception of the seat post!

Wow that bike is seriously high tech.

Looky here:

https://www.gizmag.com/coren-carbon-f...02/pictures#29

"UBC builds the frame in clean room conditions."

Ignore the exposed hairy arms. They're using ultra-modern melamine coated fiberboard to support the plastic assembly jig. These guys are the real deal.

i think the extra 30000 dollars of profit goes to rent on the designers office.

and who the hell cares if it was built in a clean room. its not going to stay in a clean room for long.
