Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Ballot mailed off - that's a good one to check off the to-do list for today.

No "I Voted" sticker, though - sad!

LSS got her mail-in ballot. Mine appeared on the arriving mail scan, but was never delivered. I ordered another one, but no response. I smell a conspiracy to suppress my vote, which could have a massive effect on the School Board and County Judge elections.

I received mine in the mail on Saturday. Planning on filling it out tomorrow. Discovered Saturday that there is a new ballot drop box not that far from my house. And yes, I do believe it's real, but I may go straight to the box outside the local election commission headquarters.

I'll be voting in person soon. Possibly this afternoon.

Not taking any chances with the mail-in thing, and I've heard that there have been no crowds at our early voting location.

I can certainly understand the apprehension - the current environment fosters it - but there is tracking to confirm that your vote has been counted, so I'm going to keep tabs on that.

Must be preemptive action against a known flimflammer.

Sounds about right. I think Electric Ladyland was about $5. I rode my 3-speed to Whitey's Records to get it. There's a Jack in the Box there now.

I do trust that the system works properly.

For me, it just seems easier to do it in-person. Reduces the chances of me screwing something up. Plus I won't worry myself to death obsessively tracking my ballot

There were some fake drop boxes set up somewhere in CA. I would rather simply drop it off at a box I know is legit. When I did that for the primary I got an email the next day telling me it had been received and recorded/counted. The election commission building is maybe a 15 min. bike ride from my house.

Yup.

A friend of mine, who was a pretty talented musician, actually had some menial job at the Electric Lady studio for a while when we were about that age and I actually caught a glimpse of Hendrix et al. from time to time. Very exciting for a 12 yo.

We've had an excellent mail in system for a really long time, but I still drop it at the city hall. It's not the system, it's the Post Office. I'm amazed a letter can get to point b from point a every time it happens, but I still don't trust them.

That said, there's no excuse for other states not to have such a system in place already.

No music ever blew my mind like Hendrix did when I was 14. We knew it was special, we just didn't know how special.

Should be good! I enjoyed the Raiders beating the Chiefs last week. I kept waiting for Mahomes to come roaring back, like he usually does.

Who cares? It's sports, you watch it because sports is entertaining. There's no loss of competitiveness because they're all working from the same handicaps and limitations. It's not like we're watching semi-pro talent or anything. Yet.

I can no longer deal with noise and distortion, but he took R&B to places no one has gone before or since and had a nice lyrical touch as well, when he wanted to.
