Anyone Ride or Own a Trek FX S 5 or 6 ?

My 2016 Expert Carbon (Sirrus) 2x11 weighs closer to 20-21 than 23 pounds (with A530 pedals, no accessories). Loosely converted from metric. So I think 23 lbs might be on the heavy side.

Yup, I agree with that. I saw the pic in the other thread showing the X1 Carbon bike weighing in at exactly 21 pounds with just pedals. I have to really start to do more research than just taking the LBS at their word.

Good to know. The Trek FX S 5/6 was on my shortlist but I elected to convert my Madone to flat bars instead, because it was cheaper to do so.

Got mine July 5.
Added the Bontrager Aeolus Pro 3 Disc wheels. They cost almost as much as the rest of the bike.
Fun zipping around San Francisco.

Nice 2018 model. I can imagine how light it must be with those wheels.
How are you liking the seat ? I tried and tried to like it but any ride over 25 miles it became unbearable.

To OP -- I’m guessing that you’ve already bought a new bike, but I wanted to add my 2 cents anyway. I’m just now trading in an FX S 5 that I've absolutely loved. It rides very smoothly, especially since I added 32mm tires. Shifting and braking are reliable, riding position super comfortable for longish rides (30 to 60 miles), and it’s a great looking bike that I’ve gotten tons of compliments on. I’m only getting rid of it because I’ve had surgery on my thumb and have found that drop bars stress it less than flats with thumb shifters. I’m actually buying a Trek Domane with electronic shifting (PRICY!), so about the same frame, tires (they sell them with 32s now), and brakes, but different gearset. I’d definitely recommend the carbon FX bikes to anyone who wants flat bars, a somewhat relaxed riding position, and smooth ride.

Though it sounds like you really upgraded with the Domane with the Di2 shifters, you will enjoy that ! Let us know how you like it.

Convert vs spend a ton of money :-)
You’re right that I could have converted the FXS, but the Domane has some benefits that I figured I’d go for since I can sort of afford it. We only live once, right? Converting would have required changing the whole drivetrain, handlebars, stem, brake levers and cables (not sure about the brakes), and if I wasn’t happy with it, it would have been harder to sell than it was in its original form. It was easier to start all over with a new bike. A guy who can do the work himself would probably have felt different... I still haven’t taken possession of the Domane, but will post back when I do. I’m super excited about going electronic!!!

Not Fx 5 or 6. But recently bought FX S 4. Love it. Climbing up hills are breeze compared to my Verve 2. Tiagra does great job and shifts smooth. With FX S 5 or 6 guess it could only get better
