1973 Schwinn Sports Tourer
Found the dream bike I could not afford as a teenager! Purchased a Chrome Moly Opaque Red Sports Tourer on e-bay. Had all the original components, Nervar (France) crankset, Weinmann brakes, Shimano Le Tour rear derailleur, Randonneur handlebars, Brooks B15 saddle. Did need to replace the original rims so that they would work correctly with new tires. I had 27" wheels built with new U.S.A. designed "Sun Rims" and the original Schwinn hubs. This bike is a blast to ride and it works so well for 37 years old..... Pic attached, enjoy.

Very pretty. Enjoy it. Looks in great shape:
One thing though, you should avoid crosschaining it and especially storing it like this. Too much pressure on your RD

Thanks for the tip on the DR. I had a feeling it might be a problem with the stretch. I'm also finding that gears 6 thru 8 are mainly what I use.

Comet4c,
Welcome to C&V and thank you for sharing the picture of your beautiful Sports Tourer. There are many of us who have fillet brazed Schwinns in one variety or another. Your ST is nicely original and the Sun (CR18?) rims are a great choice. I'm running CR18s on my souped up Super Sport, known here as "Sporty." I also use the CR18s in 700c on my '83 Paramount and have a 26" MTB version on a modern Cannondale, and they are great rims. Mine have never needed truing in tens of thousands of collective miles.
I like the hub spinner on the front wheel. I've been toying with the thought of adding those to my '39 New World Schwinn, which is also fillet brazed.

I thought I'd successfully extinguished my lust for a filet-brazed Schwinn, but a beautiful lime green Super Sport came through the co-op last week and it turns out that my lust was just taking a little vacation.
Congrats on the nice find comet4c!
