Nice! Like the soundtrack too. And the bike up the escalator!

I don't upload "GoPro" quality vids either. With my basic wireless connection it would take a week to upload five minutes of HD footage.

Just got my Contour Roam ($114 via Amazon) and tried it out this morning. A little over 3.5 miles into work... video sped up quite a bit.

Hey Bass, I like how you get in line with the cars instead of shoaling. I was starting to wonder if I was the only one.

Amazingly smooth vid considering the mount on the frame. I guess your body weight on the back wheel helps the tire dampen the shock up to the camera. Or did you use an "anti shake" editing program?

Good tune too.

Anyone using a PC to edit .MOV video files AND speed them up?

If so, what editing program are you using and do you like it otherwise?

Since getting my newer camera I can no longer edit in Windows Movie Maker. I use the Quicktime cheapie editing program for Windows. Does not allow me to speed up a video.

I edited that this morning with my work laptop (therefore Windoze) using MovieMaker6.0. Normally I would use OpenShot or PiTiVi on my Linux systems at home. I didn't bother with any stabilization effects since it really would have reduced the quality. You should have heard the original audio track... it was like holding a screwdriver to the ear and putting the tip of it on an active train track.

Contour offers StoryTeller on their site for MAC or Windoze use (the later's link is in small text under the MAC link).
https://store.contour.com/ae/us/story...t/storyteller/
Not sure what it's capable of since I haven't used it.

I use VirtualDub for editting, cutting, cropping, encoding, and Deshaker plugin for deshaking. Totally free, opensource and powerful. Not very "user friendly" though. It requires some learning. But if you'll be doing lots of editing, it's definitely worth.

Thanks for the tip. Will definitely try them out in my Fedora laptop. I'm using VirtualDub, but then I have to reboot in windows since running it on wine is kind of crap.

Actually the quality is not affected if you use a good deshaker. You keep the same resolution and quality but you do add some weird borders to the video - my personal preference, I just leave the black borders, since extrapolating or zooming in makes the video looks strange.

--- edit ---

In videos like the one you've done, where you can see the bike frame, I wouldn't deshake it either. If you do it, then the bike frame will move and this is no good for watching it.

I use Power Director... I bought it when I put all my old VHS family movies on to DVD. None of the other programs I had would read the .AVI files that my DVD copier used. It's a lot more than I really need to just edit Contour videos but it works pretty well and does have some neat features. Contour saves in .MP4 format now, not .MOV

giving out tickets:

A. riding through red lights (€100 fine)
B. riding in wrong direction on bike land (€100 fine)
C. riding on sidewalk (stating "get in the street").

There's so much win in that video! I laughed so hard when the sidewalk commuter was directed to travel in that narrow street with barriers... then listening to Stefan Majer, makes me wonder why Deutsch is not considered a romance language.

As for ticketing... that wouldn't fly here in the states. The police would have to dedicate their entire day to just ticketing people who ride bicycles.

Yeah, I don't even bother with Wine anymore.

If you could give me the skinny of how to do that with MM6.0 then I'd appreciate it since I may need to use MM6.0 in the future should I have to resort to my work machine for editing.

I don't have any commuting videos to share yet since I've only recently obtained a camera, but here is a test I made of various mounting positions.

As luck would have it, I got the ONE model they made with .MOV output. My original camera(s) put out .AVI and was perfect for Windows Movie Maker. I still have it but since it is not wide angle or HD I only use it occasionally when I run two cameras at once.

THANKS ALL for the editing tips - and all of the great videos so far!

ZEE LAW IS ZEE LAW! Now get back in front of those Audis immediately.

I can't imaging how many cops it would take to cover just the main center of New Orleans. The cyclists waiting to be written up would look like a line at a popular Disney Land attraction.

Even though I could not understand the language, I imagine every non-cyclist interviewed were all about: "Those housewives riding on the walkways are a menace to society! Those red-light runners are destroying our community! They should obey The Law like everyone else! And those outfits with the rolled-up trousers...ghastly!"

cops are cheaper than medical treatment/long-term disability.

taxes pay the police and taxes pay all health insurance/long-term disability.

the taxpayer wins and i would say that most germans would be happy with a reduction in taxes.
