Maxxis High Roller and Conti Mountain King
I've been in two crashes with Maxxis High Rollers 2.1 (front and back)..
Maybe I am not used to the High Roller 2.1, but it seems that there is a spot in the tire that looses grip at a certain angle while doing turns.. When the front tire slips, all control is lost.. But the rear seems to be very good..
I am thinking about putting a Continental Mountain King on the front.
...or, I can just put on Mountain Kings, front and back.
Has anyone have experience with this?
Any opinion will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

What about Hutchinson Pythons or Toros, they are both very good tires. The Michelin Wild Rock R Advanced reinforced is also a good choice to consider

Both tires you mention have great reputations. What is your terrain like. I have a Kenda Karma as a front tire and really like it. It hasn't slid on me, but I am not a big shredder of the gnar. I live in the desert southwest so I get everything from pavement like hardpack, sandy washes, rocks, nasty sharp rocks and to gravelly marble sized rocks. Of course gravel is gravel and there is no gripping gravel.

The High Roller is a tire that definitely performs best when ridden aggressively. There are very little in the way of transitional knobs, so it likes to be either pointed straight and rolled fast or pitched/leaned hard into corners - - heeled over enough to where the beefy sideknobs can get bite. So, as you found, if you are a bit tentative in your cornering technique, you get them into the weakest part of their profile.
Another tire may suit you better in the end; but it may be worth getting out there with them again and try pushing them a little harder. I sounds counterintuitive, since you're probably a bit gun-shy from them washing out on you before, but try diving into your corners a bit harder with more lean and see if they reward you for it. I think you may be pleasantly surprised.

So i went out and did as dminor suggested..
and it performed so well, i am impressed.. There is a certain angle that it will loose some grip, that i admit.. But riding it faster makes it much more stable.. I dont know why but it does..
Thank you dminor..
