Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Does an Easton EC90 seatpost work with oval rails?

I read a review which stated that the Easton EC90 offset seatpost does not work with oval rails, only with round rails.

A quick search didn't turn up anything official about rail clamp compatibility.

Can anyone confirm or point to documentation?

Haven't used or even seen one, but I would have thought that oval rails would be fine on a post that clamps from the top and bottom (as opposed to those that clamp from the sides like the seat mast cap on my Trek). Nothing to that effect is mentioned in the owner's manual, either.

Oval-seat-rail saddles usually have verbiage about requiring top/bottom clamps, as Why Fi mentions...

I have an easton EC70 seatpost, which I believe is very similar to the EC90, apart from the clamp being made out of alloy rather than carbon on the EC90. I believe my seatpost has some offset, but that shouldn't matter, the clamping mechanism is the same.

I have tried both Fizik and Specialized carbon railed saddles with oval rails, both fit absolutely perfect.

The Easton seatposts clamp from the top and bottom, so there is no problem with oval rails.

@maartendc, thanks. Exactly the type of first hand information I was hoping for.

Will not work.

The ec90sl seat post clamps from the sides and will not work with ovals. The clamps are forged in a perfectly round manner and do not fit an oval. Just tried first hand 2 mins ago.

Seems you're about 4 years late to the party.
